Tulare 2023 Just a Few Weeks Away!!!

Post by 67pontiac » Mon Mar 20, 2023 6:30 pm

Greetings All!! Get ready for a wonderful and rewarding Tulare Swap Meet at the Tulare County Fair Grounds on April 14-15 2023. Move-in day is April 13 from 9:00am to 6:00pm. This year we have a new and, (hopefully), permanent venue. After two years at the Agri-Center, we moved to the Fair Grounds. This will be a Pre-War ONLY event this year, much like the beloved Bakersfield meets of old. We've signed up enough vendors to have over 200 spaces filled this year and I'm getting calls almost daily from additional interested folks. There will be a lot of things to see and do in addition to the traditional swap meet. We're putting the final touches on the plans for race exhibitions at The Thunderbowl Raceway. The Ragtime Racers will be there putting on exhibition races in their pre-1920 racers. This is something you really won't want to miss!! Check out their web-site to see pictures of the cars. This is really going to be a tremendous amount of fun this year!! If you're at all interested, please make plans to attend. The only way to keep this hobby alive is to participate in as many events as possible. Bring the kids! Bring the grandkids! Bring the great-grandkids!! Admission cost is only $5.00 for the swap meet with kids under 12, and active duty military, admitted free. If you're not there, we'll miss you. For more information, please call Bill at: (five five nine) 967-zero one one two. I look forward to seeing all of you in Tulare in April!! With Very Kind Regards, Bill Bennett

Those of us in California have been swamped by record rainfall and will thoroughly enjoy the chance to get out in the sunshine , meet old friends and enjoy the Model T world once again.

Hi All, I've been receiving calls about the swap meet. I'm encouraged to see the amount of interest this is generating, but I'd like to see more comments, (especially positive comments). We're putting together "the grid" this coming week and everybody should be getting notifications about all the details. There has been some flooding in Tulare County, but the fairgrounds are on high ground. This is going to be a fun and ,I hope, rewarding event so please make plans to attend. The only way to keep a West Coast Pre-War Swap Meet alive is with a large turn-out of vendors and buyers. If you have some specific needs, post them here and maybe the vendors will bring what you want. If you're a vendor, tease us with a sample of what you will bring to encourage the buyers to show up. One thing we are going to try this year is to allow buyers to purchase vendor's wrist bands which will allow you to get in on the set-up day. Call me soon for details because these will have to be "pre-purchased". I've been reading the thread about revitalizing the Chickasha event and I'm making notes about how we can improve the Tulare event as well. If you have any questions, please call me at (five five nine)967-zero one one two. The best time to call is between 6:00pm and 8:00pm P.S.T. If I don't answer, leave a message and I will call you back. I look forward to seeing many of you in April!! With Kind Regards, Bill Bennett

If the lake floods, will it be conducted on boats? Like the markets in Venice.

Just a little re-assurance. Our flooding in Tulare County seems to be reaching the national, and international, news. I've been assured by the folks at the Fair Grounds that there is no problem with our Swap Meet!! At this point-----------Its A Go!!!!! So, ya'all come!! We have some very special happenings to share this year so it will definitely be worth the trip. Meet up with old friends, make some new friends and, hopefully, find that one last piece you've been looking for. Let people know what you're looking for. Let people know what you're bringing. Let's all make this a fun, exciting and rewarding event. I'll see you in Tulare in April. With Kind Regards, Bill

Anyone bringing any Model N-R-S Radiator parts to the Tulare/Bakersfield Swap Meet? I am looking for the water pump parts, and lower shell parts and fittings. Also, if anyone has a scrap or damaged core section, I am looking for those parts to come up with a drawing for the core section of the radiator. A member on the Early Ford Registry was kind enough to sell me a water pump box assembly, and the upper shell and fittings to use as an example, so I have those already.
Also, if anyone has NRS cylinder water connecting fittings, I would like to buy a set, or borrow a set to copy, in order to run a batch of 10 or so of the 2 fittings involved. Even a damaged or broken set would be useful, as I can fill in the damaged areas with epoxy to come up with a useable example for a pattern for casting. A borrowed set would be used only to scan, and then returned intact and undamaged to you.
I would also be interested in any other NRS parts that someone might have available.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Hop on and let us all know what you will be bringing to sell at the meet. My wish list includes a T/A K.R. Wilson engine stand, Steven's driveshaft set and most any other model T specialty tools. Looking forward to it. Thanks Bill for all the effort! :)

PLEASE READ!!!!!!! I'm going to move this to the top and give some critical information. I've received several calls about the possibility of cancelling the Swap Meet. THE SWAP MEET AT THE FAIR GROUNDS IS, NOT, I repeat, NOT, cancelled. I don't know where these rumors are coming from, But I'd like to know, and make sure everybody knows we are still------ A GO!!!!!!!!-------. There is/was an antique farm equipment show scheduled at the Agri-Center the following week and it is not going to happen. ----------------------------The Swap Meet is still A GO---------- The Swap Meet is still A GO-------------The swap meet is still A GO.-------------------- If you hear otherwise, have that person call me directly. I need to know where these rumors are starting from and make sure we're all working together. We have over 200 vendors signed up and many of them have reserved multiple spaces. This is going to be a tremendous event with lots of "extra curricular" activities for everyone to enjoy. Spread the word far and wide so EVERYBODY knows what's going on. If you have questions, please call me at: (five five nine)967-zero one one two. I look forward to seeing you in Tulare in two weeks. With Kind Regards, Bill Bennett

If anyone is bringing any Holley NH carbs, I would be interested in at least TWO. I will take more if you have them. Tried to find some at Chickasha, and they had all been sold to someone building their supply of cores for rebuilding. I want to rebuild my own, so I get educated on them and learn about them.

Tulare Space Assignments: Please be patient with us. Remember, this is a new venue and things are going to be a little different. That's not a bad thing. I'll be sending letters out on Monday or Tuesday next week. There will be a map enclosed about the exact location of the fairgrounds and the best routes of travel from both North and South. There will also be directions about the "staging area". This is going to sound a little different, but, you'll receive your space assignments at the gate. Its going to take some time to get everybody "loaded in" and positioned, and, again, please be patient with us. I'm sure this is going to work out to be a wonderful event. The Fair Grounds will prove to be a fantastic permanent home for us. As with any new venue, be prepared for a few "hick-ups". I'm hoping to keep any problems that might arise to a bare minimum. Dena, Debbie and I, along with the Fair Ground's staff will be there to assist. Please continue to spread the word and invite all your friends, (and a few enemies if you'd like), I look forward to seeing you all in just a few days!! If you have any further questions, please call me: (five five nine)967-zero one one two. With Kind Regards, Bill
