Greetings

After 3 years and a near infinite amount of money I am finally closing in on getting my 23 Touring on the road!
This project was a barn find / basket case and it came with a pair of front bumper mounting brackets from Lang's https://www.modeltford.com/item/2950.aspx

Although these go on 26 -27 T's, I still like the looks of a bumper and I wanted to use them on my T.
The SNAFU is I cannot seem to find any sort of mounting images or directions. The chief question is the location of
the mounting holes?

Has anyone used these brackets? Would you happen to have photos? And how far back from the front cross member
did you locate the holes?

any and all help is appreciated!

Brackets may not be an exact fit on a 1927 car, and may not fit a 1923 car at all without modification. Your best bet would be to find a 1926-27 frame and see if the factory bumper bracket holes can be used on your car. To the best of my knowledge, Ford did not offer bumpers, either as original equipment or as an accessory until 1926. There were a number of aftermarket supplier bumpers offered for the earlier cars. The fenders and fender brackets are different on the later cars, and so is the rear frame crossmember and spare tire mounting equipment.

Although the 26-27 Ford bumpers were for the improved car, I don't see why you couldn't use them on an earlier car. The 26-27 frame was made with the holes for the bumpers for easy installation, although no bumpers were actually installed at the factory. The bumper brackets have two tabs with holes close together and one hole near the end of the bracket. The first tab aligns with the fender bracket hole location and is slightly offset to allow for the thickness of the stamped steel fender bracket. I layed some 26-27 front bumper brackets along the frame of my 24 T and I don't see why it couldn't be done. You could use the rear bolt of the fender iron for the front tab, and drill the other 2 holes using the bumper bracket as a template.

Attached are pictures of a 26-27 frame. The yard stick 36" mark approximates the front of the frame. The bumper brackets first tab hole will use the frame hole at aprox 34" and 32". The third bumper bracket hole in the frame is at aprox 22". Ignore the hole in the frame at 25.5", my car is Canadian and the frame has factory holes for left and right hand drive and that hole is for a RHD steering column lower bracket.
