Langs supplied a new gear reduction 12 volt starter for my 1914 Ford. Easy installation, just a couple of things to keep in mind.

I suggest you use 2 gaskets when installing. There is minimal clearance between the pinon gear and the flywheel ring gear. The new starter has an oil seal in the starter that makes the pinon gear slow to return after the engine starts. So I suggest 2 gaskets upon installation that will give you plenty of distance between the pinon gear and the ring gear.

Next there is very little space between the starter battery terminal and the frame rail. I suggest installing the battery terminal on the starter stud before you install the starter. From experience take my suggestion.

Now for how the starter works, installation is easy and following my suggestions you will have no trouble. The starter works flawlessly and is quiet and powerful. As it is 12volts and a gear reduction unit the motor start very quickly. So far I have not had to even use the choke. 1-2 rotations of the motor and its running. Of course, with the ignition running on 12 volts the spark is hotter and the engine runs smoother. I agree with Dick. I have had 5500 trouble free miles with my WOSP geared starter. I have a high compression head and there were times with my Ford starter that if the engine was hot the starter couldn't crank it over. I'd have to get out and hand crank it beyond compression for the starter to work. This was with a recently rebuilt original Ford starter. With the WOSP, it starts first time, every time. I usually start on Mag because the starter spins it plenty fast enough.

Sure, it may not sound like an original Ford starter but no Bendix issues, easier flywheel engagement, a great design from the Tuckett Bros. in England who love Model T's as much as we do.
