What is used for Ruxstell lubrication these days. What is the modern equivalent viscosity and part number?

90 wt straight.

First of all, Ruckstells don't use grease! I use straight SAE 140 wt.oil. I suppose a multigrade would be ok too, but haven't tried it.

Is a ruxstell hard to install?

You would think by the end run of T's when Ford approved of the Ruckstell that there would be a recommended lube for it. But period literature that I can find, only lists for T's and TT's a semi fluid oil Mobiloil C which I believe is 600w and what the vendors sell, by todays grading.

How much experience do you have working on older cars? Buy the Ruckstell rebuild manual and then make your decision.

A very experienced Ruxstel restorer called me and mentioned that the old thick 600wt will cause galling and seize the planetary gear pins. He drills holes in them to give lubrication a better lubrication. So I'm going to use the 140wt gear lube.

According to the rux build book: 140 for the standard rear axle & 90 wt for the rux. I think the 600 & 140 are too thick to get in & lube a rux.
Anyway, I have followed this recommendation for scores of services & axle builds. No issues yet.

Always a load of opinions here, so a load of options. Might as well submit mine. Been running 90 (maybe 90 only for the first few years) or 140 for at least 40 years and 600 for the last 27 or so years. Lots of miles, no Ruckstell problems.
