New tires

A friend called and said he got a set of tires with some stuff and wanted to know what they fit. I went over to have a look. I came home with a new set of Goodyear tires for my RPU which I needed.
They say made in Canada on them. No dryrot, or cracks. Rubber is soft and plyable as new tires should be. Very happy to spend his $150 asking price for all four.

I put a set on my 1931 Model A Phaeton back in the 1960"S We had to order them and wait a while to get them. I bought them about 1958. They were on the car till 1973 when I sold the car. I drove a couple times from San Diego to San Francisco and Yosemite I also went back and forth to Los Angeles about once a month. It was our daily driver. My wife accidently drove across the border to Tijuana once when she missed her turn off. So we put quite a few miles on them.
I have no idea how old your tires are, but they will be just fine unless the cords rot.

That code on the sidewall below the 4.50-21 marking has the date.

Not sure about the Canadian code, but suspect the last two digits "05" indicate 2005.

I have a set of those on my 26 roadster. They were on the car when i bought it. They seem to be wearing very well so far.

Dallas,
As I recall you have clinchers on the RPU. Those won't fit, so the next time I am in Indiana I will take them off your hands. I need some Yuengling anyway.

Goodyear was still making 30X3 1/2 tires in the late 1960's. I didn't pay any attention to what country made them back then, but they were great tires.

I showed him Langs tire prices and he named the price. I didnt want to argue with the fella. I think God is on my side.
I did give him all the gaskets for a display board he found. Oh and he is a friend also.

A few years ago, I decided to replace the 4.50 x 21 Firestones on my '26 Touring. I purchased the car in 2000 from the widow of the man that restored it in 1977. The tires had been on the car for fourty three years.
The tread was getting worn and the sidewalls were starting to check. I decided to start buying new Firestones, one at a time, and when I had purchased five, I would have the wheels powder coated and mount the new tires on the freshly coated rims using correct Schrader valve stems and dust caps (thank you Larry Smith, Kim Dobbins, and John Von Karvaly).
I purchased the first new Firestone at Bakersfield one year from Coker. Then a few years passed. A good friend of mine who is wild about Essex cars and has about six of them, all earlier 4 cyl. cars, found a nicely restored '23 Coach and had it shipped to his house. The first thing he did was to pull the wheels. The previous owner had replaced the original wheels with a newer model set. The newer wheels looked ridiculous. They were from a mid-20s model and the wheels were too small for the curve of the fenders.
Since he had a set of correct size wheels ready to go, he decided to sell the later model ones. Upon further inspection, the wood spokes had shrunk and the wheels were unusable. I was up at his place one Sunday and he said "Hey, would you mind giving me a hand pulling these tires off these rims?" I told him "no problem. What are you going to do with them?" He replied "Put them in the back of your truck, Merry Christmas." I left his house later that day with four near-new 4.50 x 21 Firestone tires in the back of my truck.

And a good friend indeed! I too prefer to ask a reasonable price for stuff, (sometimes too reasonable) so long as me and the buyer are happy, all's good.
