Bicycle rack

Post by Dave1 » Mon May 29, 2023 8:37 pm

Anybody out there using their T to transport a bicycle or bicycles ? Thinking of adapting a rack for two bikes to the rear of our 26 Tudor.
Not sure if utilizing the spare tire rack is the way to go, or would it be best to come off the frame.
We plan on doing some touring but thought it would be nice to take the bikes along, would give us an excuse to stretch our legs.

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Years ago at Hershey, I saw a bike mounted on the driver's side running board of a teens or twenties automobile.

Dave,

I bought this rack last year and it works perfectly for both my Model A and Model T: https://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Racks- ... th=1&psc=1
I bought two shorter bolts ($4 from the hardware store) than what came with the rack, that allowed the rear support bar to suck in closer to the spare tire. The whole thing goes on in 5 minutes and comes off in about a minute. And we lock her bike through the rack and to the spare tire on both cars, which gives us piece of mind when we stop to eat.

My wife just rode 160 miles over the weekend and I was the SAG in our 1923 Model T, I ended up driving a little over 490 miles in the Model T!

Let me know if you have any questions or want some more pictures.

I thought the whole idea behind Henry Fords model T was to make horses AND bicycles obsolete ? :D
When in trouble, do not fear, blame the second engineer ! 8-)
