TT Ruckstell
I recently acquired a TT ruckstell for my truck and I want to open it up and figure out what I need to replace. Also, I want to find a shifter that goes in the middle of the floorboard and not through the handbrake hole because I want it to be next to my Warford shifter. What type of shift assembly do I need for this setup? Do I need any special tools? What size wrenches do I need? When I open it, I will keep this thread updated on what I find.
Thanks in advance, Jacob Mangold

Re: TT Ruckstell
Take lots of photos. You shouldn't need any special tools.
Try a search on "MTFCA ruckstell shifter" It should bring up several images. I believe it looks much like the shifter for a car but is a bit heftier.
Be aware, parts are not being made for the TT Ruckstell.

Re: TT Ruckstell
Thank you Tom. Really any shifter that mounts to the u joint bolts should be able to work. I have an early TT Ruckstell with no shift lock so it will be interesting to see what I find when I crack it open. I will probably get into it in about 2-3 weeks.

Jacob,
This won't really help get you the TT Ruckstell shift lever you want since I plan on using this one on my 1926 Closed Cab TT. However, here is what a TT lever looks like. Rich C.

Re: TT Ruckstell
Thank you Rich. That is ok because I hopefully already have someone who possibly has one that I will buy.

Have a look at the TT section of Vowell Art's great technical drawings: app.php/gallery/album/59
The various versions of the TT Ruckstell are drawn up here for great reference, Martynn has put a huge amount of work put into this great technical library of detailed drawings.

Re: TT Ruckstell
I think you might run into some fitment issues putting the shift lever where you are thinking with the Warford mounted behind the end of the transmission. The L shaped lever at the front, puts the shift rod more or less going through the Warford, it will need to go around it.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Re: TT Ruckstell
I was thinking about that as well. I might have to do some fabrication because my frame was also extended for the Warford. I will have to see and example from someone else who has both of them on their TT.

Re: TT Ruckstell
My first suggestion was to clean off the outside but I see you've already done that. Some of the housing half bolts can be a bugger, there very little room for sockets on a couple. Have some kind of support, those housing halves are really heavy. When I split them now i have a stack of pallets 5 high with a piece of plywood on top. It allows you to rock the housings and pull off one half. Be ready for the sludge that is inside, you hope it's there, it will have protected the parts inside from moisture.

Re: TT Ruckstell
Did the TT's use two shift rod supports, or did someone just put an extra one on?

Re: TT Ruckstell
Thank you Bob. I’m in no rush to put it on. I still have to remove rust, check the perches, prime it, paint it, and then figure out how to get the shifter and rod to connect because I have a Warford and an extended frame.
