New guy looking for identification help, break out the Sherlock magnifying glass.

Post by Paperman » Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:38 am

I know I'm asking allot with little information, but some guys love to dissect photos. Headed to pick this up next week. Its been handed down with little information and the current owner is not knowledgeable about it.

Im only a year into the hobby so Im just looking for insight as to what this car was. Windshield frame makes me say closed car, it does have electric start, engine number is mid 1925 but title says 1924.

Closed car cowl for coupe or tudor.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Judging from the rear fender to frame, I’d say a coupe. Might be wrong. Looks like you’ll have a fun project, what’s your vision on building it, speedster, truck, depot hack or back to what it was? Good luck and have some fun!

It could be a 1924 with a 1925 engine, or it could be a 1925. The frame will tell. Check the hand brake quadrant. Four rivets = 1924 & earlier; two rivets = 25-27.

Plan is a truck currently. Looking for a bed. Don’t know about a cab after I find a bed.

Full skirt rear fenders - late '24 - '25 Coupe. Steel uprights on inside cowl = 1925. Check the patent plate if still attached to the inside dash - 4 rivet = 1924 - 2 rivet = 1925.

The handbrake was slightly bent inward and outward like lots of T handbrakes were. It gives a “little” more leg room.

You might want to check the outside of the frame rails by the rear crossmember. Ford stenciled the word COUPE upside down in white paint on frames receiving the lighter coupe rear spring. I had one frame years ago that still had the word readable.
