Got fooled!! I thought the steering wheel nut was 5/8”unf. So I bought a 5/8” fine acorn nut locally. It does NOT fit. The thread pitch is different (not 18 tpi). Does anyone know what the thread is? Trying to push my project along!

According to Lang’s its 5/8 x 16 thread.
Someone asked the question about the steel steering wheel nut they sell. Ck the steel steering wheel nut information on their parts list for steering parts. Maybe that’s different than NF?

John is correct
it is a Uniform Pitch series 16UN (Unified National) thread, or 5/8-16 specifically

Thank you. I was guessing that it was 16 tpi. I can solve it now. Probably just rethread it with the lathe (or make a new one)

That’s one thing that the parts catalogs the suppliers offer are really good for. It’s a good reason that if you’re getting into ModelT’s the part catalogs can help with information for such as this, identifying parts and etc.
