Heinz Coils Adjusting Points Help Needed

I have 4 Heinz coils I just acquired. My guess is these are original coils. 3 spark nicely in a buzz box. The 4th one momentarily sparks then stops. The points were upside down so I turned them over with the same results. The points close at about a 20 degree angle, certainly not parallel as they should be. I have no idea what to adjust to get them parallel, set the points, adjust the spring tension, etc. I've read everything I could find on Heinz coils and one of the articles implies the spring should be flat. What spring is that referring too? Any help, or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Just look up a previous posted topic about 3 weeks ago entitled "New style coils versus Old style coils". There is a poster that does rebuild and recalibrate Heinz ignition coils and I believe he would be your answer.......... David Woods, ............phone : 1-517-927-9232 . .......Forum name is " Woody23 "

Sorry don't have a phone number. If you do the Facebook thing, he has a page under Midnight Coil Repair. I have found sending him a Facebook message seems to work the best. YMMV

Nope, I still don't know how to adjust the points on Heinze coils. I would like to find a write up like Patterson and Boggess did for the KW coils if one exists.

this will provide all of the clues and outright information to accomplish what you want to do, but a buzz box will not be part of testing the results

read carefully and thoroughly - these coils are not set up according to regularly regurgitated convention that applies to the bulk of later coils.

there is so much more to repairing or using a coil than "getting a good spark", and that "so much more" has been covered to pretty much the "nth" degree on the forum. A search on GOOGLE "Mtfca Heinze coil" will yield a plethora of information (much like the link I supplied above)

you're not working with the easiest coils, for sure, and unless fully tested, supplied with a replacement cap and excellent or reproduction points and adjusted correctly, they are going to be less than great performers (as a set). To achieve a high level of performance individually and then get them to perform adequately in the car as a "set", you're going to have to invest more $$ in test equipment than the cost to send them out for warranted rebuilding.

Here is another link I think you may find informative and of interest about Heinze coils.
