Folks I’m looking for pictures of the various Stewart Warner tools that were used to center the gear on wood spoke wheels. There are some picture on the old forum, but they are very blurry and some are in a format no longer supported.

There was also someone making a tool several years ago. There was a cast version and also a basic machined version. Anyone know who this was or a current source ?

Any pictures or source for one of these tools would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Marty,
There are two centering tools that were manufactured by Stewart Warner. One tool (painted black) was used for the straight cut gear used on wood wheels and the other tool (painted red) was used for the spiral gear that was introduced in 1926. The early tool was called a "Special Jig" and sold for $.75. I don't know of reproduction tools that were ever made, as they are a very specialized tool and only need to be used once to mount the road gear. I have these tools and when a friend/customer needs to have a road gear mounted, I use the tool to help them. I don't loan out these tools. I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow
