Looks to me that the burned cars are in their late teens and twenties.
What looks out of place to me is the trailers that are being used to haul out a car.
To me the trailer wheels looks like something out of the 30s and 40s. Maybe I’m seeing things or?? Was this a factory or a used car lot or?

Or perhaps a repair garage?

Isn't that a photo of the Johnstown flood of 1936?

I got to thinking maybe it’s after a hurricane , maybe flood waters, etc. Hard to tell what unless you have a history of the photo. Can’t really tell because of the black and white photo if it’s fire or etc. Maybe others can.

I don't see a trailer but I do see two trucks or buses with rather robust wheels. It does look like the vehicles were burned.

This photo was discussed at length a few years back on this forum. I tried for a bit last night to find it using google because a computer partial meltdown lost all my bookmarks almost three years ago now.
As I recall, it was a flash-flood somewhere. I tried looking up a couple I thought it might be, but found nothing connecting this photo.

I do have a great disdain for computer people. They develop fantastic tools, programs that accomplish wonderful tasks for you. Then they rewrite the durn thing. Sabotage the operating systems. Change the user agreements taking away all the rights you were promised and charging again for things you already paid for!!!!!!!!
I "Google searched" for the "same image elsewhere" and got a whole TWO responses based upon similar images (NO same images), for companies making and selling armored cars.

It has been a couple years, but I have seen THAT image on a couple different web sites before. Google used to be able to find lots of obscure articles, facts, or information. Now I guess they only want to send you to someone that wants to sell you something. Like I would ever want to buy an armored car!?
And I do not see ANYTHING in that photo that would suggest an armored car! A submarine? Maybe?

Was this part of the cleanup/aftermath of the St. Francis dam failure, up the
canyon from Santa Paul, California ?

Recall too that photo of burned autos, best can remember it was revival tent fire, the fire spread to the parking areas of people attending.
Timber in the background was part of the large tent structure.

Folks were returning to the scene of the destruction after the embers burned out.

Think it was in the mid-west somewheres :?

I'd say fire, since all the wood, tops, and other soft-parts appear to be missing from all the cars. The only thing that seems out of place is that the tires are still somewhat intact.

Sure looks like fire damage to me. The steering wheel is melted away from the spider, paint peeling off.
Looks like a salvage effort by all the various people.
