High all,
I am planning to install a Atwater Kent distributer on my 1924 T and was wondering what is the best grease to use in the gear
Case where it meets the timing cover? I was thinking maybe John Deere corn header grease. Any thoughts? Thanks

that's NLGI "0" stuff so it's pretty low viscosity. If you put a dab on, it might not stay...if you pack things good it may leak and make a mess
personally I would research what grade grease is best suited for your application - I'm not a lubrication specialist but I can understand data and anticipate results from that data, and that is what drives me to my suspicions I listed above.
I'm looking forward to learning more from folks who have fooled with distributors regarding their successes and failures
good luck

Hi Jim,
I use Lucas Red & Tacky on the Atwater Kent Model H & other closed cove distributers I have it seems to last for a long time even though the
gears are in the open on the H. I also try to install a grease zerk so I can add grease to the upper bearing ( some have a oil cup ) and the gears.
It can be tricky drilling & tapping the old white metal distributers.
Craig.
