Seeking 1911 steering column dimension

I'm needing to confirm length of the 1911 standard steering column housing. Measured from TDC of the lower brazed on cuff highest elevation, to the lower surface edge of the brass quadrant. One I have measures 21.5" for this dimension. The very early 1912 column should also have this same housing.

If I understand your post, yes the measurement for a 1911 Touring steering column as you described is the 21 1/2". The steering shaft is shorter as well. Should you need any additional information or pictures, email me, since my column is out of the car and I am ready to restore it. This is a hard and unique column to find.
