#243, Blue Zone. I assume 1915 will be down on the Walnut Grove field again.

I won't park down on Walnut Grove with my '15 touring. You don't feel like part of the festival, more like an afterthought. Perhaps they should rotate the year cars that park down there.

Two questions, ... (1) For the people who have non-street legal vehicles (early cars, brass acetylene lamps, non-registered license plates, etc.) how are they supposed to drive to/from the show field area if their support vehicle is located at the Mall? I would think Michigan Ave & Oakwood would be brutal, -especially after dusk on Saturday.

(2) Does anyone know what/where the locations are for each Colored Zone? Is this new?? Maybe I am ignorant, but I always thought we found our parking spot by looking for the little sign that had the number that matched our vehicle's year model and we parked there.



BTW, my entry numbers this year are 225 & 402.

Many people unload their vehicle at the back entrance to Greenfield village on Friday night and place your car in the village. Then drive your trailer over to the Mall. Unhitch and drive to your hotel. Then you do the opposite Sunday evening. Hope that works for you.

Not sure about the zones. Like you I would drive around until I found my parking spot with the year on the sign.

The OCF is on my bucket list (with my 1908 Model S, 1919 Depot Hack and/or my 1916 Hupmobile Touring). This is all great information. Maybe i can pull it off in 2025 with the Depot Hack.

Brent, not everyone has parked at the mall in the past. The parking lots in front of the museum have been used, as well as the one behind the Tavern.
It has been my assumption that the bicycle, motorcycle, and horseless carriage people have been place in those closer areas.

That is the goal! it's been a bucket list event for a long time. The Model S would be a hit I think and the Depot would be fun for tooling around Greenfield:

that has a number of curious alterations that me and a few others feel points to it possibly being this car:







The 1916-'17 Hupmobile "United America Tour" car. Traveled to all 48 state capitols from Aug 1916 to Feb 1917 as both an Ad tour and awareness for the National Highway Association. I plan to restore it exactly as it appeared on the tour when it arrived home in D.C. mud, dirt and all (Think the NY-P Thomas). I think it would be a good one to take to the OCF

I always thought we found our parking spot by looking for the little sign that had the number that matched our vehicle's year model and we parked there.

Recently (two years ago?) installation of the old market building wiped out more than half the park between Washington and Bagley. That discombobulated the former display order and moved the teens cars down to the Walnut Grove field. I liked the old arrangement better, but I don't think that building is going anywhere.

As John Seelman, Brent Terry and Steve Jelf alluded to above, I am in the Blue area for the OCF and think iwe are again in the Walnut Grove activity area. I have been there for two years since they began the building project for the old market building.

Parking in the Walnut Grove area seems like we are way out and away from the main areas of the OCF. When this change first started, I thought it would be temporary but now I wonder about that. I really miss being where we used to be. Does anyone know if and when we'll get back up to where more OCF visitors can see our cars and where we are closer to most activities?

It should would be nice.

Marty has reason to celebrate this year. It will be his 50th consecutive Old Car Festival .
I feel that we need to do something special for him, but what can be done for the guy who has it all?

Dave, how do you get to the back entrance to Greenfield Village? That sounds like a better plan than driving down Michigan Ave!

Dave is referring to the gate behind THF (Red dot). You get to it off Oakwood. I think it's the only way to drive into the village. You get to Oakwood from other city streets, one of which can be Michigan Avenue. If your old car is not street legal you have to haul it to the parking lot (P) or into the village to unload.

The question of whether to drive on Michigan Avenue depends on what kind of car you're driving and how comfortable you are driving it in traffic. I drive my 1915 on Michigan all the time because 35-40 mph is fast enough to go with the flow of traffic there, and I grew up in the Los Angeles area.

Yes, off of Oakwood. You will get the hang of it once youare there. It is confusing the first time. We have driven brass cars down Michigan Ave. Not a big deal. Just pay attention.

Michael, all it takes is a plane ticket. If someone knows you are coming, anyone of us can pick u up at the airport.

I just got an email today from the HF with participant info. 5 minutes later they sent a recall email. Then they sent the original email again. Had something to do with registration. Anyone else get those emails?

Thanks but this my 60th! I was 13 in 1963 when I went to my first one. Of those 60 years, I narrated the OCF for 35 years: more than half of the time I was in attendance and about half of all OCFs. Very proud of that.
