Hello all,
By now I am sure most of you have seen the topic regarding Steve Jelf's accident in his 1915 Model T Roadster. Since the topic has been getting a lot of discussion I thought it would be a good idea to post a separate topic regarding strictly his GoFundMe link so it is easy to find.
For those of you who are not familiar with GoFundMe it is a website that you can easily raise money for friends, family, or online communities such as mtfca with. Please donate or help out if you are able. The links below will guide you to his GoFundMe page. Click on Steve's photo or the prompt regarding Steve and his model t.
Thank you to Manny Kourounis for setting up the GoFundMe.

It sounds as if Steve is encountering more than his fair share of setbacks. $13,144.00 raised as of October 31. Is there a goal? I know Steve will have substantial medical bills, but hopefully, he has medical insurance and the Gofundme money can go for another Model T when he fully recovers. If, God forbids, he does not fully recover, the money can go for rehab, living expenses, insurance deductible and whatever insurance does not cover. Of course that will be his or his family’s choice to make. Jim Patrick

The goal is 25k. We are at 13000 so far.
For being in the hospital and recovery for this long, theres a good chance it will be in the millions, but that is none of our business.
When i had back surgery 2 years ago and i was in the hospital/recovery for 5 days, and that was a BIG bill. And we had insurance too.

Who was at fault in the accident? I assume it was the other guy. If so, the other guy's insurance company needs to cover everything, and maybe then some. Where are those personal injury lawyers when you need them?

AND the Health Care providers need to do the paperwork -
In Kansas, car insurance is mandatory for all drivers. Kansas has provisions for liability coverage, personal injury protection (PIP) and uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.
Liability insurance covers only the other car and/or that car’s driver and passengers when you are found at fault for the accident. Your liability insurance minimums for Kansas are:
$25,000 bodily injury liability per person
$50,000 bodily injury liability per accident
$25,000 property damage liability per accident
--
In Indiana, liability car insurance is mandatory for all drivers. Liability insurance covers only the other car and/or that car’s driver and passengers when you are found at fault for the accident. Your liability insurance minimums for Indiana are:
$25,000 bodily injury liability to one person in an accident
$50,000 bodily injury liability to two or more people per accident
$10,000 property damage liability per accident
While minimum car insurance requirements in Indiana are predefined, they are not meant to be a cap on how much coverage you can or should get. You may personally opt for more coverage to protect your financial assets and your vehicle and/or passengers.
--
Medicare, the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older or who have certain disabilities, does cover injuries sustained in a car accident. However, there may be some limitations on the type and amount of coverage provided.
Medicare Part A, which provides hospital insurance, will cover the cost of hospitalization and other medical treatment related to a car accident injury. This can include the cost of surgery, rehabilitation, and other medical services.
Medicare Part B, which provides medical insurance, will also cover some of the medical costs associated with a car accident injury, such as doctor's visits, x-rays, and other diagnostic tests.
However, it is important to keep in mind that Medicare does not cover all medical expenses related to a car accident injury. For example, Medicare does not cover the cost of long-term care or rehabilitation, and it may have limits on the amount of coverage provided for certain services.
