Cam nut wrench!

I’m wondering if there is a dozen people who would be interested in buying one. It’s a special “box end” with a 1/2” offset of the handle. Thinking about making some. They would be CNC cut and have about a 10” handle.

Les, the less offset in the handle the better. The original open end Ford wrench for the purpose has an offset of around one inch, so the tool easily cranks off the nut before the nut is brought to a reasonable tension. When I use mine, I have a sleeve to go over the cam snout to engage on the wrench end, a washer to blank off the outer end of the sleeve, and a spare timer nut to hold the wrench, sleeve and washer to stop the wrench crankoing off the cam nut.
Allan from down under.

Like every other Stevens tool I have ever run across, the T-138 Camshaft Nut Wrench works very well.
Respectfully submitted,
Trent

I bought a cam nut socket from Snyder. It works good and also works quite well on the front wheel bearing.

I will make one and post a picture and a price. Then you can decide.
The idea of using a spacer washer and a timer nut with it sounds like a good idea!

A friend just uses a Model A spark plug wrench, bend in handle works ok. But a specialized tool would be likely best.

A Snap-On 36-F socket is the correct tool.
Or one can be made from a front wheel bearing wrench
(cut from a hubcap wrench multi-tool),
a piece of tubing and an old socket.

I am looking to make this into a double purpose tool.
One end will fit the cam nut AND the front wheel bearing. On the other end it will fit the front wheel bearing jam nut!
I think that they will probably cost about $20.00.

I made a front bearing socket out of a socket because you can’t use the ford wrench with buffalo hubs. I just milled a close enough form in the ratchet side since there’s no real torque on the bearing.

Update
Well I have 18 of these finished BUT now I find that while they fit most cam nuts perfectly I encountered one this morning that it won’t fit!! ARRGH!!
I’m not sure what to do!! I don’t want to sell something that doesn’t fit properly.

I have now tested the wrench on 15 nuts (including a new repo one) and only one didn’t it fit. So if you are still interested I am prepared to sell them!!
