Does anyone know a place in southern eastern PA or in Maryland or Delaware who polishes brass and then coats them?
I would like to drive the parts to be polished rather than mail them.
There is or was a place in southern PA where I took them about 7 years ago. Can't remember where.
Thank you!

I’ve had good experiences with old timey brass instrument repairmen. Consider jr. high band students with candy and chocolate on their fingers handling school instruments. Many old timey instrument repair folks concoct their own mix of coating.

A couple of our members went down this route. Both rued the day they did. No clear coating will stand the rigours of outside driving in the weather. Once the coating started to break down, patches of brass tarnished, as it does, and the resultant patchy appearance was awful. Worse was trying to get the rest of the coating off so they could resort to having nicely polished brass. With no coating, the brass tarnishes evenly, and that is a far better look than the patchy look.

I polish brass with Simichrome , wash with Xylene, then coat with Protecaclear, holding up nicely for several years now. Easy to remove Protecaclear using Xylene. Then repolish and put on Protecaclear again.

I agree with Allan. Just don't do it. Eventually the brass will tarnish underneath the coating and upull have a heck of a mess. I actually enjoy polishing my brass, usually every 4-6 weeks. Radiators more often mainly cause they're so easy.
