FRIDAY JELF REPORT

I visited Steve today! Its all true. Steve was alert and we visited and talked about friends and the cards hanging on his wall. He has no recalection of tha accident or days prior. I watched him finish most of his beakfast. I asked if he could use his glasses. I had found them in the car mangled and bent but not broken. I straightened them and we put them on him. He said "now Im back."
His nurse Ashley is a peach. She owns a 1910 and a 1924 that belonged to her grandfather. Both original cars. Also a 69 elcomino. A real car girl. Leave it to Steve to find probably the only nurse with two model T's to take care of him. All the staff have been great with Steve but Ashley is doing her best to help him recover. When he gets the feeding tube out he will go to a rehab facility.
The tube may come out yet today she said.
Ashley said he had a big day today for PT so we let Steve rest up. I asked steve if I could get a photo for all those that cant come see him. He said that would be fine. A few minutes after I took the photo Ashley removed his mittens if he promised to be good. Steve got a chuclkle. He also said he needed to get on the forum and update his status. I offered to type and post whatever he wished to say and while he was thinking of what to say he fell asleep. Maybe next time.
Steve is waiting for his brother Mike to come. He said they didnt think they would get to see each other this year. Steve fixed that to. I was very happy to see the change for the good in just a couple days. I wish I could visit every day as he is an interesting fella. Well here is Steve.

Great report. I have a feeling if he keeps on getting better, we will get a picture of Steve performing maintenance on the hospital bed. Whatever you do, don’t bring his toolbox to the room….

So very good to see him recovering so nicely now! So much improvement in just a couple days.
I have many times over the years told friends and family that "attitude" is critical in situations like this. The right attitude makes a huge difference in how quickly and even more so how far one can recover from serious injuries or illnesses. This is especially true for anyone of advanced age, as their body has slowed so much in its abilities to heal, and a positive attitude becomes even more important. One of the biggest reasons our dauntless geezer is so well known and admired by so many people has been his incredible attitude towards life, and the necessity of enjoying it.
It is apparent that he is now on the right road to recovery! He still needs some time to work back to feeling fully himself, and getting back his full mobility from being bedridden for some time. If anyone can do it? Steve J can!
Thank you so much to Dallas, George and Molly, Pastor Brent, the nurse Ashley , and all the others there pulling for Steve and reporting to us who care but too far away to be there!

FANTASTIC news with a capital F!!
It sure is great he's got a nurse who likes model T's and old cars and somebody to keep him company who understands the affliction.

This is me thinking out loud. Eventually it sounds like Steve will be done with therapy and such and will be going back to his home. It might be a good idea to get a list together of people whom might be able to help him get acclimated back to his home life. Get supplies and groceries for his day to day life. Help around the yard, things of that nature. This obviously is dependent on him wanting the help. Just food for thought.
