Radiator Supplier Question

I need to get a new radiator for my 1919 Touring. I see a bit of a price difference between the different suppliers, with Eckler's being about $200.00 lower. Has anybody found a noticeable difference in quality of the radiator between vendors?

The brassworks is the only company making them new now. I ordered mine through them directly.

Brassworks is the only manufacturer of Model T radiators & they have quite a waiting time - better get on the list if you want your radiator for next touring season !

The Current $200 cheaper radiator from Ecklers (if it is even still actually available) is a poor quality radiator that WILL NOT last very long in a car that gets driven much. If you set it in place on the frame mounts and poke at the side of the top tank with a couple fingers, the radiator jiggles like a piece jello ! It isn’t rigid enough to hold up very long. I’ve seen a couple recent examples of these in person that have been made in the last several years. The outfit that makes them has been doing it for a few decades. The T radiators they made 20 years ago were a “Fair quality” radiator at about 60% of the Brassworks price but something seems to have changed. All the parts vendors know about them but Ecklers is the only vendor that offers them…

Searching via Macs was easier than Eckler's even though its the same site

I question the availability posted since one says in-stock & the other says shipped from the manufacturer. So if its the low one better grab it. Usually these items are not stocked by suppliers and shipped from the manufacturer. Brassworks may be behind on some model radiators and not others. Eckler's may not have upped their price - what about shipping & tax

Here’s a USA made T radiator made of aluminum that appears to be pretty correct. Purists won’t like it since it’s aluminum.
The company shows the radiator mounting measurements and dimensions.
Not cheap but might be well made.

First, Do your homework before buying anything from Eklers. They are notorious for incorrect orders, involuntary back orders, inflated shipping and incredibly poor customer service. Automotive forums are full of stories and warnings about Eklers.

Order direct from Brassworks or one of the reputable T vendors, but they all come from Brassworks so it’s best to buy from them directly.

Thanks for the input. I'll get on the list with Brassworks.

Is there any benefit to get the "Extreme Touring" radiator if I don do any extreme touring?

Perhaps if you have a speedster with OHV or other hop up stuff and run fast.

Here is the Brassworks description:

We added the extreme touring at the request of our customers. It has a 66% increase in copper, 293% more tube wall surface area than the OE design. The central support bar is removed and replaced with a cradle bracket like the early Fords

Unless you want and like headaches, don't buy anything from Eckler's. Ask for other's opinions of them from Forum members. Cheapest is not always best. Sometimes, you get what you pay for.

" don't buy anything from Eckler's."

I have no affiliation with Ecklers (or Howell's which has received equally critical reviews by some), but recently I had very prompt and complete service from Ecklers on body patch panels and Howells on '26 coupe cross sills, both ordered from eBay. I agree on Brassworks Radiators, and paying the price to get a quality part (which I did via Lang's some time ago). I have no affiliation with any named vendors, I sincerely appreciate their service to our hobby.

Respectfully, jb

You may want to call Snyder’s or Lang’s, sometimes they have a stock.

I thought Ecklers and Macs were out of business. Did I miss something? Art

Eckler’s was sold to another company. Cartouche Interiors that was part of Mac’s/Eckler’s is out of business.

Update

My order was acknowledged by Brassworks on 9/30 & my radiator arrived on 10/30. That was much quicker than I expected.
