Hello,
I'm putting together a 1923 touring car I am fitting the body skins to the car. It has been going ok, but at this I point need some help since I cannot find info out on the forum. Where the side skin and rear tub skin meet what fasteners do you use? Some of the photos I have seen some on the forum where they look like they are slotted woodscrews and another where it looks like a carriage bolt. I am thinking they used woodscrews. Please let me know if you know. It is hard to tell since they are behind the fender in most of the photos.

I used woodscrews, I couldn't find a definite answer either.

I think that seam was originally spot welded together and over time when restorations occurred people used small screws of some type. When looking at Cimorellis Model T digital information for some earlier T bodies wood plans by Mel Miller it’s got some information about how to put that seam together. I’m just guessing but that web site may help you.

A 50+ year old memory may not be worth much, however - at the time we were scrounging parts from a lot of discarded derelicts that were untouched by restoration. I recall seeing a number of bodies in that age range where the side panel just behind the rear door was joined to the rear quarter panel with round-head wood screws. Others may know better.

Not sure if this is what your looking for

It may be that earlier models were spot welded and later attached differently - time & cost are always reason for change

Round, slotted wood screws is all I have ever seen there. I believe the red circle shows one remaining one in this panel. There should be 4 holes in both panels to be joined. They are mostly covered by the rear fender and only part of the top one will show.
