That motor intrigues me. Its similarity to a regular T motor, yet quite different in interesting ways. I can spot dimensional differences in the pan (lower crankcase), and the spacing between the removable bottom cover is quite interesting. It also appears to be cast aluminum.
Always looking forward to more pictures.

Bill, the bore is 4.3125, stroke 5 inches.
Wayne, the motor is similar to the T in many ways, with these differences: pressurized oil to the mains, auxiliary exhaust ports (four holes with slide to close or open on the left side of the block), straight flywheel without magneto, front external magneto drive and magneto pad, waterpump similar to 09 version and aluminum lower crankcase come to mind.

Hi Rob, Thanks so much for sharing, I look forward to reading all of your posts. The history that you dig up is amazing. Does this car use same transmission parts as the Model T? Your oil system , reciprocating oil pump? It all looks great! Lincoln is getting closer. I am still waiting for my engine to come back from the machine shop. We will see you there.

How is Julie ever going to keep that car clean?

Love the pictures, Thanks to you and to Peter.

Mike, yes, Peter Fawcett and his group finished the K roadster too. I've been blessed to have many of the foremost Model T people take on my lowly K and racer projects. Dean Yoder, Stan Howe, Mike Bender and many many others have helped put our Fords back on the road.

Dave, Julie has proved her prowess at helping shine brass. Let's see how she does at removing grease and grime from white wire wheels.......

Rob

I see what looks like extra support rods on your differential that do not appear in the older photos.

I also see your front radius rod is over the axle. Any thought of putting an additional radius rod under
the axle?

Dave,
The additional truss rods are on the racer at the Henry Ford. The torque tube had the casting for them so Peter made a set based on those at THF.

It looks like the wishbone was attached over the axle on the 1910 racers. The "newer" racer made in 1911 does have the radius rods under the axle, so Ford designers evidently realized attaching under the axle is stronger/safer. I plan to add under axle support at some point.

See you in Lincoln,
Rob

Looks amazing!

I noticed in the second photo, there's a mix of wood spoke and wire wheels on the car... wonder what happened back then?

Bill, they are trying to have the racer ready for the Speedster Reunion in Lincoln in June.

Susanne,
I've noticed one wood wheel on the right front at a couple of different events. The wire wheels were 32x4, and the wood standard 30x3 1/2, so maybe they kept the wood wheel on for the speedometer?

A few more pics with the right front wood spoked wheel. First, at Brighton Beach races in August, 1910:

Also in August, 1910, at the Pennsylvania Point Breeze track:

I believe this is a photo of the Brighton Beach Ford, used for this Detroit Free Press article about the Point Breeze race. The racer has the same license plate, and distinctly shows the spoked right front wheel:
