Haven't posted in a while and the past few years have been pretty crazy.

Decided to visit the owner of the MG TD that I delivered last year and pay a visit to the T (that he owned and now I do) to see if it was dug out. I took some more pics and posted them to my album.

Feel free to comment, good, bad, ugly, don't matter to me. I'm curious about many things and have much to learn.

If you have any questions for me or about the car, or it's history, let me know and I'll do the best to answer them.

My BGT is complete and ready to go into storage, so hopefully in the next few weeks, I can bring the T home.

Looks like it might have been running when parked! A little cleaning up and changing the fluids and lube, Air up tires, New battery, and off you go. Should be time to do these things during the winter and ready for tours next summer. I would like to invite you to the tour in the San Diego Area, next June. We have driven all the routes and they should be good T tours. Most of them avoid the big city and take country roads into the back country. Many historical places along the way. And while you are here, you might want to take a few days aside from the tour to visit other tourist attractions.

Overall it appears to be in good shape. As it has a distributor, it either has a bad magneto or a previous owner thought that it did. You need to be sure that the base timing is retarded before attempting to start it by handcranking it.

Those are very nice photos of it. I restored one from pieces. One photo of yours from the back seat takes me back to one I found in the 60s. It captures those memories of climbing into it more than my car ever has.
FWIW, That's amazing to me. What a wonderful car. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have mine.

This is the first thing I need to investigate. Something about it not running correctly so he added this VW coil and dizzy. Still wasn't working so he stopped using it. This was back in 2001.

Next would be the rust underneath. It's really clean except for 1 area that was exposed to a closed bottle of muriatic acid he used for his pool. Unopened bottle outgassed and I'm not sure if rust is flaky surface or deeper into the metal.

Hi Vince. Congratulations on the 25. The Long Island Chapter has a bunch of people with T's not too far from you. I'm in Northport, guys are in Huntington, Greenlawn, Commack, etc. We're trying to mobilize the group. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks,

I have a 24 Coupe that I restored and this 25T 2dr sedan has the same type of interior kit in it that I used. It looks like it was a frame up restoration since the chassis has been repainted and cleaned a few years ago. The body has been repainted too.
Storing the Muratic acid under the car wasn’t a good idea and it shows but it probably hasn’t rusted up to bad. Might be a good idea to check or remove the gas tank to see if it has old gas turned to varnish.
It seems overall to be a solid car though and probably will be OK with a little work. I wonder why the distributor was added and hopefully the radiator was drained or has antifreeze in it.
These are some things you usually check when a T has been stored for a good while.

When I looked at it the other day, I asked about that and luckily the garage is heated, so the radiator looked really solid.

Very lucky. If it wasn't for the acid, I mighta been able to tickle it and get it roadworthy in a weekend.

If anyone has pictures of were the throttle and timing rods terminate down at the bottom of the steering column, I'd love to see them. I think that might be the worst of it

Be sure to wire the studs together at the wishbone socket. They currently have cotter pins.

I don't like that corrosion on the wishbone or the tie rod. I'm sure you'll check that out.

Listen to Jerry - there is nothing holding the studs in place that secure the wishbone ball to the pan. Wire the studs together so they can't turn.
If corrosion has thinned the wall of the wishbone tubes too much they might bend at an inopportune time. When in doubt, replace!

Not sure where these Cotter pins are that need to be replaced with wire and I'm sure I'll learn. Is there a pic anyone can share, cool.

The cotter pins on these studs. They need to be removed and replaced with a wire that ties the 2 studs togther, preventing either one from threading out, (which cotter pins will not do).

I see where that is now. Thank you and I'll add it to the list.
