Last night we were notified by Steve's doctor that they were transferring him to Northwestern Hospital for evaluation. He had acquired a fever and an infection was suspected. He was unsteady, words slurred and not communicating very well. So, he was admitted to the hospital, seemed to be having difficulty breathing, and scan showed that one of the areas of bleeding in his brain had expanded and didn't seem to be reabsorbing as expected. He is now intubated and the decision is being made on whether to do brain surgery or not to relieve the pressure. Fingers crossed that the outcome is good.

Wow! sure a quick turn of events. I hope and will pray for his recovery. He is a Dauntless Geizer. If anyone can overcome this it is Steve.

He might have a subdural hematoma. It’s a brain bleed that occurs after a while. I had the same thing after a fall from a ladder after I retired and took a good lick on the side of my head. It showed up about two weeks or so later in a brain scan. It’s like having a severe bruise inside your head. My wife noticed my loopiness and we went straight to the Dr. I had emergency brain surgery about 8 hrs. later to relive the pressure and had a tube put in my head to drain the blood. Severe head trauma can cause it to happen. I’m sure the Dr’s will order a brain scan to check him out. Mine was about ten years ago and I have a plate on one side of my head but I got through it and restored my 21 Touring a year after it happend.

Steve’s in pretty good condition for his age and he’ll pull through it. 👍🙏.

For those that might not be familiar with Chicago's Northwestern Hospital, it is consistently ranked one of the best hospitals in the country. Steve is in good hands.
