Interesting experiece starting the engine

I had an interesting experience this morning.
I was getting my T ready to do a school visit this afternoon. I oiled everything up and checked the fluids. I had one very low tire so I wanted to start up the car to move it to another location closer to the air compressor.
I pulled the choke wire and cranked it to prime the engine to save the battery which had not been charged for a month. The engine would not start with the crank, so I had to use the starter. It still would not start so I choked it some more. Still wouldn't start. Anyway, I lifted the hood and noticed the choke was not moving very far and did not close completely. Apparently some old gas was inside the shaft and had turned to varnish which caused the choke to stick. So I worked on the choke for a while and got it moving freely. Now the engine started right up and ran fine.
The last time I had the car out, I had a very hard getting the fuel adjustment right. It would either not idle or if I got the idle right, the high speed was rough. This time, it was back to its old self. It ran fine at all speeds and once warmed up ran fine at the usual setting. So I suspect the choke was partially closed the last time I drove the car too.
