Installing new wiring harness

And color coding doesn't match... This is on the '26 ('27 engine). I've got a '26 version of Dyke's, which has a wiring schematic for T's. Five wires, not six. Looking for suggestions. Photo is of the old & new side by side.

There is no red wire in the harness which goes down from the terminal block. A separate red wire goes to the magneto terminal. The red wire on the top harness goes through the firewall and is connected to the magneto terminal of the ignition switch.

I would start at the ignition switch to see what wire is missing, and label the wires you do have coming from
the switch. Then you know where to attach them to the terminal block. Make sure you take the red wire from
the magneto and isolate it from the other wires. Attach that one last when you know everything else is correct.
I should have stopped by your place on my way back to Milwaukee from the auction in marinette. Next time.

You are missing the yellow/black stripe wire for the generator lead and the solid yellow looks too light for battery lead.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:

Marv, from your picture, you're installing the light harness (5041) I sent you.
Being a TT, I sent what I thought you needed. 26 TT is 25 for the most part. 5041 is what Lang's calls for for a TT, 5 wires, 19-27...26-27 car uses 5041E, 8 wires.
If you determine that you need the car harness, 5041E, let me know and I'll send you one for shipping.

Mark, the larger gauge yellow/black wire is in the commutator, 5031 harness...which Marv also has.

Hey Marv, I just purchased a rare "numbers matching" 1926 "TT" from SE Kansas recently. It appears that the wiring is original and in decent shape. You are more than welcome to come down and check it out, bring your camera !! I also purchased a wiring harness from Dave Hanlon item #5041, together maybe we can figure this out !!

Thanks, John! Will plan to call and stop by.
My Grandson did find a link which shows the various wiring combinations with T's and TT's, which should help to 'figgur it owt'.... It might help others when encountering confusion with similar projects.

Marv, there's no guarantee that your old wiring is original. Some of the reproduction harnesses made in the last fifty years or so used wrong colors, gauges, number of wires, etc. Royce has Bob's wiring diagram in color here: https://modeltfordfix.com/troubleshooti ... patterson/

Some of the harnesses made in the fifties and sixties used their own colors and tracers, and were a pain in the ass. Even today, I've not had real good luck with current harnesses. It's expensive, but what I've done recently, I've taken a known original harness to YnZ's wiring company in Redlands, California. They duplicate the original exactly, and even sew in the Ford tag on the late harnesses, but costs about three times more than what is listed in Langs catalogs.

Years ago, I had gotten a complete new harness from good old J.C. Whitney. Color coding then matched exactly to the wires when stripping back the old harness, which was highly likely 'original' with Ford printing, A couple of years ago, I trailered the TT to a client's body shop for some body work. While there, they used a steam power washer to clean off years of farm crud. Unfortunately, the power washing also did a number on my replaced wiring harness / circuitry, though everything still connected. The link I've previously posted has a schematic for the five wires up to the terminal block. I will check the gauges of the wiring, and also use an ohm meter to make sure of connections, proceeding from the opposite direction. Thanks!
