Thought I would share some old photos of OCF. My son bought a new scanner for photos and one for slides and negatives, so that everything can get stored and labeled correctly. I am certain that I will find more. As you may be able to tell by the antiquated photo system using the date in the corner, this was September of 1982.

What type of scanner do you have? We have a lot of my grandpa's old slides and no good slide projector to see them on. My grandpa has many similar ocf photos

He bought 2, one for the actual photos (an Epson FF-680W), it's fast and fairly easy to use and you can load about 30+ photos at a time. The quality of the scan that you choose determines the speed, but even the highest quality scan (slowest speed) is still FAST! For the slides and negatives he bought a Kodak Slide-N-Scan, much more "low-tech" compared to the Epson but perfect for what you want to do with it. It transfers the image on to an SD card and then you can download them to your computer from there. It is a manual feed and really does not take long to use. It took me longer to remember the names of all the people in the slides that were at my wedding.

Thanks for the posting. The photos remind me of antique car events at the old Bay State Raceway in Foxboro, MA. The former harness racing track is now the home of Gillette Stadium, where the New England Patriots play.

Maybe Larry Oneal. It was a long time go and I was 12. Don’t quote me though .

James, I was trying to determine whose Model K Roadster it belonged/belongs to also. I don't have a photo of Larry O'Neil's K, but it may be the one below now owned by Fountainhead Museum in Alaska:

This one is now in San Francisco. It was part of the Towe collection. Before that it was owned by Elmer Bemis (driving) in the 50's. This car toured extensively and was taken to England for the Anglo-English tour in the 1950's. It sold new in Omaha Nebraska: This is the white Roadster some of you may have seen in the Porter collection, currently on display at Piquette:

That car resembles the first Model K I ever saw while visiting a car show in Owego NY about 20 yrs ago. Thought it might be the same one, jb

You are correct. That is Larry Oneal's K at the 1982 OCF. His daughter Mary Jo is his passenger and his wife JoAnne riding in the mother inlaw seat. My father and I worked on that car the whole time he owned it and kept it going. As far as I know it was sold to ther museum in Alaska. Larry passed away early in the fall of 2023 and JoAnne passed many years ago. They lived in our little town. They were great people and extraordinary car folks.

I rode in it there, my dad and I were restoring our Model N at that time and he took and interest in a 12 year old kid that was really I interested in the real old stuff. He was a fine gentleman. I’m missing these older guys more than ever these days and the hobby isn’t the same without them. The only thing now it’s guys like us that are fast becoming the older guys.

Mark and Kevin, that’s good to hear. I’ve read about “Larry 0’Neil’s Model K,” however didn’t know anything about him. Many of the well known “K” people like Larry, Larry Porter, Cecil Church, Don Mates, Cecil Ralston, Elmer Bemis, Dick Williams and others are gone, and their stories and knowledge with them. As Clara Ford wrote in a letter after HF’s passing, “it is the way of the world.”

These photos bring back many memories. All of the cars were parked on the green between the Village Hall and Martha Mary Chapel. There was poultry fencing separating the cars and spectators. There were more trees to park under.

These photos appear to be taken while standing next to the control tower, a two story wood structure. The carousel was still down on that field as the Suwannee riverboat and the ice cream parlor. All these provided a large spectator draw. They even sold fish food at the lagoon.

I seem to remember a large coffee urn and a doughnut table before the Village opened to guests.

I see the hay bales are in place for the Muzzle Loaders event. I was told that insurance became an issue and the event was discontinued . I recall the firing was periodically ceased to allow the train to pass.

It was around this time that I became the last participant of a backwards race after managing to get the front wheels of my car air born while my wishbone ended up in front of my car. This was also during the time pets were allowed in the Village and my dog Angel was the first to exit our Coupe once it landed.


These are my personal memories as a participant and I do not represent the Henry Ford.

Me again in the Dodge Brothers, the car parked in front of the Chalet is my son's 1931 Buick 8-87. An original and unrestored car.
