There is a T Roadster on Hagerty auction that I have a question about. They are calling it a 1913 but it has rounded doors so it is1914 body. That is not what I have questions about.
It has a Driver door? Is this a Canadian car? Engine still has Made in U.S.A. Does not look like has be ground off like my Canadian 13 running gear. Door panels look like my RHD Canadian 25 Roadster pickup.
Anyone have any guess?

Defiantly a US engine, wrong coil box, later diff and perches are later as well with oilers, so could be a Canadian with USA running gear or a USA roadster that has had the door fitted to it. It's lack of authenticity should greatly affect it's price.

When did Canada start making their own engines? My 13 has U.S.A. partly ground off. But it didn’t have the drivers door. Did 14 have the driver door? I seem to remember a gentleman from Oh that came to some tours down here that had a Canadian 14 Touring with a drivers door.
I know that the door could have been added but looks like too good a job for some shade tree to have done back in the day.

For what we have come across in Australia, early 1918 for Made in Canada engines. I don't really know what's going on with this Roadster, the firewall ID number plate is a USA one as well. I see with a second look there's a casting date on the front axle of 12-5-19

Non Ford radiator and pressed steel crank handle. Looks like a ‘bitsa’ to me.

Working from memory; 13 turtle deck had sharp corners on the back edges. This looks like a later turtle deck. Cars been pieced together.

In the late 1920s the Ford Motor Company warned new purchasers of the Model T to make certain that all the production numbers lined up.

The company went as far as print all motor/vin/year of manufacture numbers at least twice in the Ford Owner, and to be reproduced in popular publications as Motor and Chilton Publications.

If you are told that the car for sale is a 1915, then the motor number should be a non starter from the production line of 1915.

A car with the wrong number is a re-manufactured project car. Granted some one pre-1930 may have changed the motor, but using the Information found in the period Ford Owner - with out proper motor number, it is not a true 1915 vehicle.

Sounds like a purest comment... a recent issue of a farming publication warned buyers of certain equipment to make certain the serial number and advertised manufacture date match. This was in 2023.

Did you notice the "serial number" above the inlet is May 6, 1913 date, yet looked like the cast date is 11/26/1913? Cart before the horse?

It is not described as correct or original is it?
It has vinyl top and upholstery, and has been painted, and not very well, it would seem.

Nice car though,and one that could be driven as often as you liked.

Dan, That was larry Hengenius's car and it did have a door from factory.

my 1908 S roadster has canadian serial number on the block so they were making engines in Canada back then
