Hi all,
If I have a running, very original (original body, wheels, upholstery, top and mostly original engine) 1911 touring.
I really only got it running, got a complete lamp set and fresh paint. What would be a fair selling price?
Just want to get a feeling for some project ideas.

Pics and details will be very helpful.

Don't have it at the moment, I'm working on getting an 11 project from a seller to work on and give to a family member or if they don't want it, flip it. Trying to get a general idea if it's worth my time.

There is a nicely restored correct 1912 in the classifieds for $24,500 a bargain. There is also a 1912 wanna be for $14,000. Another bargain. You could not restore either of these cars for their asking prices.

Hemmings has a 1911 Touring for sale listed at $25K. Original open valve engine, body and interior look nicely refinished. Its difficult to tell from the pics but it may have a newer rear end in it. HCCA has a nice 11(red....) listed at $50K. I have been tracking 11s for a while and I keep seeing 11s and 12s listed in the $40K-$50K range that just aren't selling at that price point anymore.

Assuming someone actually bought this for the 36K price shown, this auction house and this seller may have defrauded.

As was noted, pics will help, but I'll at least tell ya right here and now, if it's any color other than the "very dark, all but black, blue" or possibly that super dark green--if it's an early enough car, then you just pushed the price way down. Amazes me how many people feel it necessary to "restore" an '11 and '12 in RED!!

Well, does anyone suppose the stagnant selling of 'em above even $35K just MAY be because they're not the correct color for the year? And have all sort of "other accessories"? Just a guess!

Then lets also consider that it's also quite possible with the economy the way it is lately, people can barely afford food, let alone rent and what is still too high of a price for gasoline, there's just not enough "disposable discretionary" money left!

At this point in time, the '12 that Lang's has for $24.5K is indeed the best bet hands down. May need engine rebuilt for all we know, but still it's a pretty good buy. Even the wannabe aint a bad deal for a "starter car" for someone getting into the hobby, especially being brass. My the values have tumbled.

"High" interest rates may be a factor.

But it has original "barn dust" on it, and after you mount some sealed beam headlights you should be good to go!

And a bit off topic but it seems ATM most cell service is kaput...texting doesn't work nor calls at least where I'm at. Seems they have concrete proof it's china's doing. This only works cause I'm on wi-fi...for as long as the internet works!

For what it's worth, I'm more familiar with the military jeep market, but the two hobbies are almost identical. What we are seeing in the marketplace right now is an over supply of vehicles that guys have held onto for many years, don't drive them or display them like they used to and think they can get top dollor for them. Those days are over. Buyers are few and far between, anyone younger than 65 does not have the interest or the play money to acquire one and maintain one.
There are museums and guys that have a bucket list for a certain vehicle that will pay top dollar and everyone sets that as the benchmark for all asking prices. Ain't gonna happen.
Don't see it as much in the T hobby as I do the WWII jeep hobby, but European interest and exchange rates often mean a foreign sale, and, again, that becomes the sellling price that all the sellers hang their hat on.
If you ever explore the Humvee market, you will see prices anywhere from $125k, to $15k, for running Humvees. Guess which ones sell and which ones sit around.

Yeh that's the '11 that Rick way up above referenced to for $25K, not a bad car and certainly a good price. It's ur basic salad car, rear end definitely is a lot "newer", maybe even as new as a '15 cause while hard to tell it looks like it's got the reinforcing ribs on the backing plates of the rear axle, and of course the pumpkin is a dead giveaway. It's been for sale for a while, as has that bright red $40K torpedo, which will be for a lot longer too. I'm really surprised this touring hasn't sold by now, despite the "irregulaties", it'll make a great looking first car for a newbie at an affordable price.

That "1911" on Hemmings is a 1912 that is missing the fore-doors. The open valve engine would be for a very early 1911. The serial number on this car should be somewhere in the 100,000 - 150,000 range.

There's nothing even remotely close to "1909" on that car that I can see...

From the next-to-last photo, one of the non-original headlights may be lying on the rear floor.

Saw this on Marketplace a few days ago, took me a while to find it again.
