I agree with JTT3 ! That is the heavy or big case Muncie, and most likely has under, direct, overdrive, and reverse. I had one in my first speedster (they do fit and were sold for use in both Ts and TTs! Don't fall into that "Truck" Muncie Bologna.
If the gears are in reasonably good condition, they are great for any model T. I would dearly love to have another one if I could afford it.
If you are worried about the weight? They are not that much heavier. So stop eating ice cream.

I very much like the Muncie Aux. transmissions, they are cheap to rebuild and dependable. That one is better suited for a truck. @ that price
& if shipping is $200 it would be cheaper than most I have purchased with shipping. I have one in my fire truck ( second one not because the
first one failed ) it's still good but I wanted the lower overdrive ratio. Input & output couplings are hard to find so look to get them anytime
you look @ getting a Muncie.

Thank you so much for posting this! I just called him and it turns out Steve lives 20 minutes away from me. He wants me to bring a 4th main cap to make sure it will fit a Model T and if it does then it is going home with me.

Be aware that Muncie transmissions require a special u joint and adapter coupling that are often missing. They scream like a banshee in overdrive.

Thanks Erik! I already have the other bits and pieces plus a rare original Muncie brace that goes under it to give added support.

If I had been better off money wise, I might a ask about shipping but I have already gone far enough along on my speedster I don't want to undo a bunch of stuff. I waited a few years thinking I would find 1 of these before i really did alot to it as I would have extended the chassis instead of cutting the driveshaft.

I've got a parts Muncie I tried to give it away and couldn't get a guy to take it

Gotta disagree with Eric on the screaming. If they're in good shape, no screaming in overdrive.

I'm with Ed, one in good shape is no noisier than a Warford, but if worn Eric is correct don't drive by a cemetery in over or under it may wake
the dead. Karl do you still have the parts Muncie? I have one that could use some help.

Me as well... for the short time I had a muncie it was perhaps a transmission second only to Ruckstell, if it's screaming, you have an interference, bearing, or other problem. Those were perhaps one of the BEST aftermarket transmissions for a T that were built, That's why they're so desirable.

If yours is howling in OD, you need to take it to someone who knows gears and can make it right. Because they aren't supposed to do that (especially in OD).

I have had two good (and still have one junk?) Muncies for model Ts. Both were quiet in all gears. Loved them! The Warford I ran for several years was also good, but a little noisier.

The Muncie in my TT only whines in overdrive during deceleration. Pretty quietly and a little louder when braking. I kinda like it.

Spur gears are inherently noisy especially @ faster speeds. If they are worn or loose on the main or counter shafts they tend to vibrate &
that creates harmonics that are very audible. We are working with 100 year old transmissions. Reality is there is no good way to tighten up
these tolerances. Heavier gear oil may help with noise but they can also impede adequate lubrication in some places. I have driven model
A's that where noisy in first & second. A Hale slit shaft PTO in a fire truck @ 15+ years old sounds like a B-29 taking off under load pumping
2,000 GPM.

Well Mark did you end up with the Muncie?

Yes. It seems to be in good shape and shifts through the gears fine. I will open it up eventually and go through it first before using. I am one of those people that does not know how to resize photos to fit here so I cannot post pictures.
