What on earth is that behind the car in #12 pic? Funky kind of clothesline or short-wave radio antenna?

My favorite feature of Tom's photos is their "Life as it happens" aspect.

While the cars generally range from somewhat to totally filthy and they are in any degree of use/abuse/destruction, the drivers seem, for the most part, delighted to be right where they are.

The guy in the disc-wheeled speedster, the kid with the dolled-up coupe, the girls piled on the hood of the Fordor, even the kids on the running board of the '26 runabout are just obviously tickled pink with their rides. I love that. Their enthusiasm telegraphs right through time to us, a hundred years later, seeing them doing it in that long-ago moment.

Thanks, Tom, for making these posts. They brighten everyone's day.

I'm not sure if that's a radio aerial or some kind of infernal rain-making outfit.

That antennae looking thing appears to have been added to the picture, either drawn in or photoshopped.

The man on the 4th car has a very strong resemblance to Andy Griffith!

Several wonderful photos!
Number one, I don't know if college kids are clowning around or what they are doing? Everybody appears to be alive and well enough. Are they pretending to be victims of the "crash"? The right (top?) front wheel is spinning (slow shutter speed blur of the wheel spokes) and the fellow's hand and arm slightly blurred moving down away from the wheel.
Number two is an unusually accessorized touring car. The even folding windshield suggests it may be a 1917, with electric sidelamps (looks like a battery box on the running board). A spot-light and accessory steering wheel can be seen. But what really stands out is the unusual top. Notice no upright sockets by the front seat as would be expected on a late 1910s touring car, and the unusual tiedowns pulling the top down in the front to the windshield.
Number three appears to be a 1909 (gray) model t roadster sitting next to a somewhat earlier Holsman high wheel automobile.
Number four is yet another great boat-tail speedster!

Number six is the infamous 1920 Wall Street bombing. Terrorism is not entirely a new thing.

Number six is certainly interesting. Frankly, a few too many accessories for one car for my liking. A few of all those on different cars would be nice.

Ten and eleven are another great speedster!

Number thirteen gives a good look at a 1915/'16's inside front door panel.

Thank you again Tom R!

I might be wrong, but the first car looks like a wide track. the axles look longer than the ones on number six.

I was thinking that the rear pole and wires didn't show up very well so were drawn in. The upper rear cross piece can be seen but not the pole holding it. ;)
