Supporting the Hood

Hi T folks!
What are some of the creative ways you support your T's hood when it sits open for an extended period or display? Cloth? Foam? Wedges? Purchased equipment?
Thanks!

Mine are all later than the brass models, so I can't speak for them, but I just open one side of the hood and lay it back. usually the side with the carburetor. But you could do either side. If you want to show both sides, at the same time, you could remove the hood.

Foam or wedges have the possibility of damaging the paint when those with "curious fingers" decide to readjust the hood on their own... also I had foam damage paint.
Thick, soft cloth would be my choice for a short long term display... Depending how creative you want to get... for a long term display... suspended from above, hanging off the ceiling... with the bottom edge right above the radiator support rod as if it were lifted directly off the "saddles" it normally sits in. That way the curious can see everything going on under there.
But just for a normal short term static display, a soft cloth with the hood opened as normal. I DO know of a T that someone put a "ledge" on the radiator tank (to rest the hood on while open), but that's way beyond the purview of anything I do to someone elses vehicle.

Somewhere on this forum going back at least 10 or 15 years is a hood bracket that, I believe, a member invented. It attaches to each side of the firewall in the upper corner and becomes like a shelf that holds the hood in an upright position instead of the hood laying down on the other hood and prevents the hood half from falling or being scratched or otherwise, damaged. I would look it up and post the thread but I am pressed for time at the moment so someone else will have to do it. I’m sure here are many who remember the thread. Jim Patrick

I found the 2016 thread about hood props. Lots of good ideas:
