Bolt for AC brakes

I'm ready to install an original set of AC brakes. The instructions tell me to to remove the lower bolts holding the radius rods to the backing plates and substitue the longer ones that are included. I dont have the long ones and need to buy them. I assume they are the same diameter and tpi as the radius rod bolts but would like know the length I need. I assme they are held fast with cotter pins so I'll have to drill holes. Do I have it right?

If I recall, the bolts that I bought were about 1/2 inch longer than the stock bolts. I did a trial assembly with the castle nuts snugged down, then used a drill through one of the nut castellations to mark where to drill for the cotter pin. I then removed the new bolts and drilled them for the cotter pin on my tabletop drill press. :)
