TT Auxiliary Trans
I recently acquired a Lincoln over/under trans for my TT truck but it's missing the part (or parts) to mount the shift tower. Without it I have no way of mounting the shift tower to the torque tube. The photo shows the tower and shift linkage that I have.
Anyone know what parts I need to mount this?
Thanx everyone!

Re: TT Auxiliary Trans
Probably just a large "U" bolt.

Re: TT Auxiliary Trans
Just a big U-bolt, Wallace. It’s heavier than a muffler clamp bolt, but that may work for you. The right one would be pretty easy to make. There are a lot less shifters than transmissions that survived. Nice piece !

Re: TT Auxiliary Trans
A rear axle U-bolt would probably work or you could probably just use a piece of threaded rod and bend your own.
Life is good on the lunatic fringe. Tom

Re: TT Auxiliary Trans
I tried today clamping a u-clamp but you can't get it tight enough. When you go to shift there's a lot of torque from the shift knob and the tower slides left and right on the torque tube. Also, without the part the tower isn't high enough off the torque tube and the shift linkage binds. Not really sure what I'm missing...

Re: TT Auxiliary Trans
Wallace,
I have a Lincoln like that. You are missing a heavy casting that goes under the torque tube and bolts to the shifter with a bolt on each side. Mine also has a diagonal brace on each side that connects to the bolt that connects the two radius rods to the torque tube. This is what takes all the shifting load. Could your braces have been cut off? No time tonite but I will try to scrape the grease off tomorrow and get a picture of the shift tower in place.

Yes Wallace, what Ralph just posted is spot on ! I had to look at mine. You are missing a small casting that has ears to connect to the radius rods. If you need a sketch, just ask. Looks like a 5/16” u bolt, too. If you can’t make it, Hank in Tennessee sure could.

Re: TT Auxiliary Trans
Wow, I get back from my shop and get responses with photos even, that was quick!
I see the part that I'm missing, my guess is thst whoever removed the trans and shifter assy just removed the 2 top bolts and left the rest bolted to the driveshaft tube. My only option is obtaining a part to have a casting made or fab one up. A sketch of the part would be great, Thanks! (nice looking zerk too!)
