Dauntless Geezer's Model T

I may have missed this in the past but my interest now that Steve is doing so much better is about his Model T roadster. I saw the story in the latest issue of Model T Times. Is the car going to be repaired ? The kind of guy he is and the friends he has could get this going. Bill

Repair or replace? Dunno yet. Sometime after the family reunion here in the middle of June, I need to get to Indiana with a trailer, view the remains in person, and haul home the carcass. Considering the car being flipped upside down, I'm hoping the damage was mostly to the body, with lots of good pieces undamaged. Dallas tells me the Stewart mechanical horn still works, and I hope that the undamaged parts will include coils & box, carburetor, some wheels and tyres, and other stuff. None of that is a big deal by itself, but they do add up. Besides the body damage, I suspect the frame is bent. The most valuable thing there is the engine/transmission by Mike Bender, so if there's no damage there, that's the best thing I can hope for.
Will I have a car ready for OCF by the time applications open in nine days? Nope. If I go this year, I'll need to drive modern.
I have been amazed by people's kindness since September 9. Some are family and old friends, which might be expected, but some of the folks who have helped wouldn't know me from a bump in the road. Even changing planes at DFW on my way home, the man shoving my wheel chair scrambled to get me to the tram in time so I wouldn't miss my flight.
I must take the time to mention Manny Kourounis. Manny is a stand-up guy. He started the GoFundMe page that has been a blessing in dealing with the bills that piled up while I was grounded. Also a big THANK YOU to all the people who contributed. I recognized many of the names, but there were others who just wanted to help an unlucky old man. The last nine months and fifteen days show that I am the luckiest guy in the world.

Steve - it's good to have you back on the forums. Your perspective, insights and general helpfulness has greatly helped me as I continue to learn the endless nuances and tricks of owning a T. Very much appreciated!

Hey Steve, Although we are both Kansans and have never met, I somehow always felt you'd eventually get back on your feet. "You can't keep a good man down". My concern was with your dog Shorty. I inquired a time or two during your recovery and was assured he was doing well with a neighbor. Now that you've reunited, I hope you two have gotten back into your old routine and all is well.

While I was gone my cousin Zack would drop in occasionally to check on the place and be sure Shorty had food and water. He offered to take her for a ride a couple of times, but she refused to get in his truck. I had left her in charge, and she wasn't going anywhere. I don't know if that's really what she was thinking, but I like to believe so.

I bet Shorty was glad to see you when you walked thru the door. She may have been left in charge but I bet she was more than happy to let you take over.
We only met briefly at the OCF once but I've used your website and followed your adventures and misadventures with great interest. I am pleased to see you doing so well and getting your life back in order. I'm sure you're aware that there were a great many people pulling for you and willing to go to great lengths to help you out. Take some comfort in that.
