Back in the day when I was in junior high this motor project was a extra credit project. I made one and used a train transformer to make it run. It was well received by the teacher and got me an A for the semester. This was in the early 1960's.

Looks like someone put the motor in backwards.

I remember buying or building parts like that. Borrow a few cents from Grandma and ride your bike to the electronics store.

That is a few real neat photos. Thank you for sharing.

Brought back memories!!!
When I was a kid we made electric motors out of paper clips....
There was a Time Life series of books in the 60's about various sciences, in the book of electricity they had the plans on how to build.
One difference between then & now....kids don't tinker anymore...

Still have my time life paper clip motor, and a couple of others. These were great learning projects that took a bit of tinkering to get them working properly, sadly something today's youth have no interest in.
