The poster says the photo was taken in 1936. It’s a family that traveled and worked at different pea farms. Maybe the poster called it a house car. But it is an interesting photo of what looks to be a homemade house set up on a TT chassis. It’s not a aftermarket body for sure. Looks like it’s sheets of plywood nailed or screwed together.
In that time you did what you had to do. The chassis was around 10 to 12yrs. old if the poster dated it right.

I always enjoy seeing those photos. That one says so many wonderful things so many ways. The hub cap for the radiator and tears in the fender. Not to mention the work worn look on his face.

These kinds of photos help to keep me grounded. Some of the things that test our limits today, would be a picnic in the park for them.

I’ll bet that guy kept that T going as best he could. Probably didn’t have access to a coil tester to get the coils adjusted but probably did it by ear and sound like so many others did. If it had a occasional miss maybe cleaning the timer would help and change out a plug or two in his box of “good used ones he had under the seat and not to mention a couple or so of “good used copper headgaskets!! The list would go on! How life really was in that era. Not to mention a good clean shop.

I think that is a car chassis instead of a TT. Appears to have a full length running board and a rear wheel the same as the front with only four bolts. Even the tiny bit of the rear spring that can be seen seems too narrow for a TT.

I wondered what looked like a large brake drum on the rear wheel is a larger brake from a TT. And yes the rear wheels and tires don’t have the larger spokes and tires but the larger brake drum is questionable. I’ll guess we’ll never really know.

The large brake drum just means 1926/27.

That large drum on the house car is for aftermarket rear brakes. Likely Rocky Mtn. type brakes. The standard small Ford brake drum fits inside the large 12" diameter Rocky Mtn. accessory external brake drum.

Bank took the farm.... let us keep the old truck.... headed for California...

I didn’t think that was a 26-27 brake drum. The Rocky Mountain brakes are probably what they are.
