I was getting out of my 22 Center Door and found this on the running board. I can't place what it is but I thought I would ask the experts. Any ideas?

Looks like a clamp to hold wiring in place. Usually found around the front of the engine near the radiator hose for the low voltage wires from the timer or for the wires on firewall or hood sills.

On my 26 fordoor there is a clip like that for the gasline at one point on the frame and what you have is 1/2 of it . But your car is different from mine so not sure about your car.

They are on either side of the engine bay, holding the headlight wires in place.

I think that you are exactly right. It looks like half of that holder but that makes for a great mystery; how in the world could it have made it from where it goes to where I found it?
Thanks so much for your help. You always know the answers.

Referred to as a gas line clamp set in Snyder’s parts. Wire clips have a deeper U, don’t require a second half and are not made of such thick steel.

U S. Quarters we're not used on Model T. Fords. Buffalo nickels were used as freeze plugs in the block when the Ford issues rusted out.

Our Canadian car use those clips, in pairs, to hold the headlight wire looms in place. One pair on the left at the front, two pairs on the right. All are sandwiched between the frame and hood shelf blocks and held in place by the hood shelf bolts. The other wiring clips do have a deeper U, are of lighter material, but are used singularly, usually to hold the looms on the firewall.

Jim,
They're used for that too. They are also wiring clamps.
