Hand Brake Spring attachment???

I got this spring. I thought I had a picture of where it goes, but I cannot find it.
I am not sure how it attaches to the brake. There is a hook hanging down from
the hand brake lever. Either the circle goes in the hook or the hook goes through
the other hook. But then where does the circle go?
I currently have a temporary straight spring with a hook at each end, with one hook
attached to the hand brake hook, and I have the second hook wrapped around the
brake clevis, but I know that is not correct either.
Thank you.

Unhook the round end and put it around the handbrake cross shaft then hook back then put the hook end on the rod at the pawl so it pulls the rod down.

Don't trust the brake until you have a serviceable brake pawl with notches that hold, and you have the spring in place to keep it locked.... the last thing anyone needs is a car jumping into gear, especially when your not behind the wheel!
My '26 touring body has a length of kids swingset chain with an "S" hook to go around the brake lever and hold the brake lever from going forward.... it came to me like that. I had no idea what it was for until an enlightened friend educated me..... so if they're putting a safety chain on the brake lever, that kind of underlines how important a functioning brake pawl is....
I have a friend that turned his back on his dad's '15 touring after starting it. He was on the ground, nobody behind the wheel.... the brake lever popped forward and the car took offand drove itself across the street and got stuck, in the mud of a small swampy area.... Not even a scratch! Just had to hose the mud off the wheels!!!! Very lucky indeed!☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘
