It’s August 1st!
I’ve been varnishing, varnishing and more varnishing interior wood pieces for the delivery car. I also got the platform ready for primer and paint.

Excellent progress! Your attention to detail will make your restoration first class. I haven't done much with my 12 Roadster project since I got the tires mounted a month or so ago, but I have been traveling quite a bit. (Not to mention it is hotter than Hades here in South Carolina at the moment.) But I am getting all the fasteners and wood blocks ready to mount the sheet metal. All it takes is time and patience!

Rolled my WWI ambulance project out of the shop for the first time ever. Loaded on trailer tonight for display at local museum tomorrow. Some loose electrical ends and a angry demountable spare tire rim I have to get latched, but a good feeling crossing the finish line on this project.

i am on a "cleanup and organize" project ... i have been digging thru my junk ... some will be salvaged some discarded ... i poured connecting rods this week and have bored and "X" grooved several sets ... i had thought that i had sold all my used rods several years ago ... as i dig deeper i continue to find more salvageable parts ... will re-condition as i have time ... they are of little use to anyone and of little worth in a used condition ...most of my parts are the common mechanical type ... but i am finding many of my special early Dodge Brothers parts , some from very early DB cars ( 1915 - 1917 ) ... a treasure hunt of sorts ...will post pictures of the connecting rod project ...Gene French

I sent about 2000 lbs of T stuff to Schnitzer Steel Aug1. Scrap dealers are currently paying better for black era stuff than T guys.

To answer your post:

I’ve been working on a rear clamshell differential that would NOT have benefitted anyone if i hadnt restored it. It was a total loss on the drivers side…. But, i had different plans for it!

As you know, they are very rare now! I took advice from a friend down under , fixed it accordingly, and made a 440 sleeve to boot for the outer flange assembly!!!!!

All better now! And, more importantly , it will last another 112 years God willing at 3.25-to-1. Fingers xx’d

Post Fix …. Carry on…. Zzzzz….

Me and my son traveled the 19 miles to Calimers wheel shop. After finishing blasting and painting up all the wheel metal parts I was ready to get the process started. We enjoyed our visit and liked seeing Mr. Calimers Model T project and all the wood working tools, piles of fresh wood and various make and models of wheels. Glad to see people are still playing with antique automobiles.
Can’t wait to see the finished product in a few months!

Shored up the back end, removed and rebuilt the rear axle. 100 years of dry grease and dirt was hard like asphalt covering the fasteners.

Having some work done on the house, also watering the garden and trees. and also doctor's appointments keeping me quite busy with other things. I did start it up and back out for a few hours so the garage door opener could be repaired.
That's all I did with the T. If everything works out, I plan to take one to the local museum for a couple hours the last Saturday this month.

I continue with my cleanup/organize mode ... i did more work on my revised connecting rod boring machine ... will add way covers and belt guard, but is operational now ...i built this with an old headstock from a wood lathe that used 1x2 bearings and mostly spare aluminum flat stock , ball ways are 20mm import items from ebay...i have been asked how i "X" rods so i will add pictures of this and a simple rod "X" fixture i use in a vertical mill ... hope all are enjoying the summer and our very high temp's. ...always an optimist Gene French

Not what I have done so much.
The Saint Louis club was invited to bring our rapid assembly car to a D.A.R.E. Car show at Edwardsville high school today.
We were able to assembly and drive it in 6:03, I think it is a club record!

Installed the T-5001RK coil box upgrade kit (plastic terminal boards) from Snyder’s on my ‘24 Touring. The main reason was that I drive and/or park in the rain on almost every tour, and just wanted a little extra insurance against a wet coil box. Also, the engine had been running like a sewing machine around 30-37mph, but I could feel an occasional slight miss at 20-25. It runs smoother at the lower speeds now, and does seem to have better low-end torque. Both of those improvements came with the spark plugs having not been cleaned in the last 1000+ miles.

Not a big deal, but worked on my TT floor board. Installed two brake trim plates. One, for the RM auxiliary shifter, I cut down because I thought the gaping hole in the board looked sloppy.
A relatively inexpensive improvement.

Got to drive it! Making adjustments and tweeking things, but it runs and drives. So naturally, I had to go to the gas station and fill up, and get some ice cream!

This last weekend our County historical society held a car show at their museum site. I had the opportunity to display my 14 Touring at the restored service station on the site. The service station was restored by our local AACA club and we hold our monthly meetings there. The car show was lots of fun, lots of pre-war Fords, I had the only Model T in the show.

Took every brass part, screws, nut, bolts, lights, horn and anything that needed polishing on the 12 towncar and took it down to San Diego califunny to be polished. Eight hour drive each way. He talked me into not just polishing everything but also spay a coat of clear on everything so I won’t have to polish again for a long time. There is so much brass on that car that I just could not keep up with it. Love the car but hate to polish, will have enough to polish on the 15 touring that is not getting a professional polish at this time. I had some antique brass pieces polished and clear coated in the seventies that are almost black today but they were beautiful for the first ten years.

Yes Steve. Nice guy, we chatted for a while, all the polishing equipment smell was burning my nose.

Not to sound maudlin, and no I havent hit the sauce...but a definite opinion...

What have I done in Aug to Daisy is focusing on refurbishing the front axle assembly....

But what that has enabled is something totally different.
The one thing that makes this forum great to me is the extent to which everyone steps up to provide guidance, educate, help, suggestions etc. Some doing so on the forum, others going so far as sending pm's or emails. I benefit....Daisy benefits...others benefit from the collective source of info posted here.
How many times I've stated to myself I wish I could meet some of these folks...

So what did I do in August? I made a road trip to meet (well, OK, so I was buying some parts)...a regionally (relatively) close member....Dan Hatch. While only for a few hours, I left feeling like we've known each other for years.

We may all be aflicted with the same incurable disease loving our T's, certainly may be a focus, but the relationships our hobby creates are....priceless.

Just wanted to make a point I appreciate this forum, it's members, and all those who have provided advice & council. Daisy isn't my first T, but I've come to realize there's a world of difference between a '14 and '26....and that I still have a lot to learn....

Patched a 17-19 roadster body side.

I posted this picture in another posting, but thought I would post it again here as a progress photo. Got the splash aprons, running boards, and rear fenders mounted on my 12 Roadster. Didn't go as bad as I thought it would. Starting to come together, all it takes is time.

This morning we finished the 1911 Torpedo after 1.5 years of rebuild and overhaul what should be a simple valve job.
She is beautyfull and ready for the next 100.+ years.

See my post above. Well I did take it to the museum. But the generator quit charging. I did trickle charge the battery all night before and so the starter worked and I immediately switched to magneto and drove about 8 miles round trip. The car ran fine however I swapped generators with one one another T and it didn't work either. I tried jumping the cutout but it did not charge even then. I have 6 volts to the cutoff but nothing out of the generator. I can't tell if the generator works on the car I took it from because it hasn"t been run for about 5 years. Would need to clean the carburetor to get it running. I tried adjusting the sliding brush on both generators but no change. The ammeter works on discharge when I turn on the lights, so I don't think the ammeter is the problem. Anyway I am stumped.

I have thought about starting it and giving it a good cleaning. The problem is that I am so far behind on yard work that I have to focus on that. We have had 47 and a half inches of rain since May 1. That means everything - especially the "Florida Holly" (Brazilian Peppers) are growing like crazy. The Peppers are an invasive species and are winning the battle with me. Normal rainfall from May 1 to August 31 is 30.1 inches. No drought here.
