Took the Ford racer to good friend Bruce in MN yesterday. The mag wasn't working well, so off I went at 3:00 am from Nebraska. We tore into it at 11:00 am:

Mag trouble must be contagious. That's what ended our day on Sunday on the SCVMTFC endurance run.

What a great sound! Hitting a solid all four. So sweet! Gutsy, never lacking for power, not lugging a bit at any speed. At slightly over fifty, it sounded like it had plenty more upper end to go! Could eighty be possible?

Tim, yes, magneto problems can be a real letdown. Nice racer by the way! This racing version is perplexing because there is no battery side, just two plugs running off the mag. As a result, the motor must start from mag, or be pulled or pushed. I thought we had the problem solved (and it is better) but received two of the worst kickbacks I"ve ever seen tonight trying to start her. That includes starting several much larger Model K motors.

I"ve found it seems to take two to three years for me to get the kinks out of a new project, and I suspect this will be no different. However, once it's running, it's a matter of "hang on to your ass...."

Wayne, I have one report of the 300 cu in racer making 87 miles per hour on a straightaway. I suspect this racer easily capable of 80-90 plus. However, I want all the other kinks out first.............

Kaiser, thank you. It's been a pleasure so far (except for the sore knee and welt on my wrist from tonight's kickbacks). We all know it could be worse.
