Howdy,
Seeing clutch springs advertised in classified section brings a question to mind. What is the compression rate (lbs) in one inch?
Thank you

Does the added pounds affect operation of transmission? Improve performance or hinder operation?

The new springs will lessen possible slippage in direct drive.

Improves lock up. Less clutch slippage, which is adjustable to a point. @ diminished tension slippage may not be adjustable by increasing the tension with the 3 finger screws.
Real critical with TH400 clutches. Any slip wears the disks quickly. Eventually wearing away so much of the disks you have to replace them.

Is there a clutch spring rated more than the 110lbs suitable for use in a racing T engine? Or is it sufficient to use the 110 pound spring?

Racing spring? Not aware. Got info on them. Details?
The 110#(advertised) is the way to go for stock or th400 disks. (plenty)
I have the same spring with th400's behind a RAJO. Locks well enough to burn a little rubber In a full weight touring.

I always use the new ones in transmissions builds, especially if the customer requests a turbo or other modern lining clutch. They are not that expensive and good insurance.
