Do these numbers on my 1914 engine head indicate that it’s a 1926 head?

Those numbers are the month and the day the head was cast (May 26th).They are close to the date the block was cast (May 4th). . I hope this helps, Russ Furstnow

If you have a later high head you compare it with the head on your 14 and see if it’s the same height. That’s the easiest way to tell. Others that know if the casting number is for the later heads may can tell you the number information.

Measure from the bottom edge of the head to the top of a head bolt hole boss of the first hole on the right side. Should be a hair under 2 inches if it hasn’t been milled if it’s a low head.

That is not the original engine number. You can see how low the number area is compared to the rest of the water inlet surface. The original number has been milled off and that number stamped in its place. Although this is common practice it is illegal.

That used to be legal to do, hence was commonly done. Exact rules varied by state.

Earlier low head styles of model T heads often had casting dates on them, but only the month and date, no year given. Several other details on the head may or may not help narrow down the year.
I don't even know if any high heads have a casting date at all? But I am fairly sure that most do not.
