Hello everyone,
I would like to invite anyone who would like to join us for a nice Sunday drive, here are the details.

We will meet on 10/27 at the Mobil on the Run,
2311 Upper Bottom Rd
Saint Charles, MO 63303
Meeting time will be 8:30 for a 9:00 departure for Grafton, IL, via the Grafton Ferry.
There is a gravel lot there to accommodate trailer parking, I was told by the gas station that we could use it for the afternoon.
I have not been able to get confirmation on visiting Smartt Field to see the B-25. We will stop to see if an impromptu visit can be had.
I was able to confirm that the ferry will accommodate all the cars to travel on one trip. (up to 15 per trip)
Due to many lunch venues available I chose The Loading Dock for its proximity and large parking and dining area.
After lunch we are going to travel the Great River Road towards Alton so we can position the cars in front of the Piasa Bird painted on the cliff face. (Something to submit to Vintage Ford)
After that we are reversing our route to return to the starting place.

The day started cool if not cold, enough for gloves and a hat, so the 15ish mile trip to the meeting spot hadn’t the roadsters top up.
Due to some road closures I was unaware of I got there a few minutes late. We had 4 cars that left a bit after 9 and we headed off to historic St. Charles, Mo. A quick stop and then down the brick street heading towards the ferry. We did stop at Smartt Field, but the hanger was closed and no one around but we looked at the outdoor exhibit of antique military vehicles and chatted with a few bicyclist that happened by. By then the temperature had warmed and the top came down on two of the cars. The ferry crossing was delayed a minute or two due to a large string of barges going upriver.

Lunch was at The Loading Dock, and several club members met us there and we ended up with 12 in attendance. After lunch a short drive towards Alton, IL, brought us to the Piasa Bird painting. Several pics later it was time to head back due to the lateness of the hour and about 40 miles to return to the starting point We did a short drive thru the river town of Elsah, IL, on the return as well.

It was a great day, with only one car being a bit cantankerous at the beginning (not wanting to stat) I clocked just under 98 miles and was home by 6:30. It was a longer day than I expected, but everyone seemed to enjoy the scenery and route.

Now I need to start planning for spring.
