When going to put in valve seats, can any machine shop for cars do this? And are there a particular type to acquire?
Thanks

Any auto machine shop can install valve seats. The shop will provide the seats. They will choose ones that are best for your situation.

Get the valve seats fitted before the rebore as more often than not the top of the cylinder will distort.

well, that's not gonna work because the engine's already been bored 22 years ago.

Bill,
Kerry is spot on about the installation of the new seats distorting the cylinder bores. If you dont want to do a rebore to a larger size you might get away with power honing the cylinders to true them up. Any macine shop can do the work. If you are running alumimun pistons you can get by if the new bores are 7 thou or less larger than dia of the pistons. I've run them with that amount of clearance with no slap or other problems. Of course, you'll need new rings. Some would advise going the next size up and filing the ends to get the proper gap. I can't speak to that.
