I have some wear damage on my new top.
Any ideas on how to re dye it?
Boot black?
Has anyone fixes this with long lasting success?
Thank you,
Greg

That doesn't appear to be wear damage, rather a smear of some white substance on the top material. Try removing it with a little lacquer thinner (or acetone, your wife's fingernail polish remover) used sparingly on a rag and see if it comes off.

I would start with WD-40 first...you'd be amazed what it will take off without damage to the substrate

Did you park under a tree or anger a seagull? Other than that, I'd contact the folks you bought it from and see what they recommend.

If you find that the white marks are not stains and that you do need to re-color the vinyl, I have had excellent results with SEM vinyl dye products (available at real automotive paint stores). Be sure to use the proper prep before spraying the color.

Greg, The white marks look like they could be house paint. I would start by using soap and water on a clean rag using light rubbing. If that doesn't work you can try some of the other suggestions, be careful if you try lacquer thinner it could dull the surface of the topping.

Its definitely wear.
Thanks cudaman for the tip on the vinyl coloring.
Those cans look expensive.

I’ve had good luck with black shoe polish. Rub it in and wipe it off.

Greg, I also have had success using shoe polish for cosmetic top and boot repair.
