Carbureter Settling Bowl

I’m sure I’ve seen one of these before, looked on the forum best I could but couldn’t find one in a post. Does anyone know the history of this little settling bowl that screws into the carbureter? It appears to be made of bronze and maybe has a “D” marking on the side but it’s very faint and could just be my eyes. Is this even for a Ford I wonder?

No doubt it's one of those aftermarket accessories that different companies sold... Probably has a gas filter screen inside and unscrews from the bottom. So when the fuel is shut off at the tank the sediment and the screen can be cleaned out. Never have seen something like this, doesn't surprise me that someone manufactured.

It's an accessory fuel filter.

I have never seen one before, but the carburetor appears to be the standard NH for a 26-27 with the cowl tank. Maybe that is a sediment bulb just in case the one on the gas tank does not remove all the sediment. Must be aftermarket.

I would like to see a picture of the car that goes with those seat cushions.

It could be one of those 100 mpg gizmos that were in magazine ads back in the day.

Much appreciated gentlemen, I wanted to make sure I had the story straight.

Mr. Humble, I took the photos on the back seat of this ‘16 Maxwell.

Late '31 Model A Zenith carburetor came from the factory with one similar to that.

Have one of those 'cleaners', got it somewhere among some T parts. It's solid brass, would look nice polished :P

Guess they do help with dirty gasoline, the fine brass filter screen is rather full of sediment.
