#4 Interesting to see a right hand drive with what looks like an Iowa license.

Pic #13: Family must be doing well from the oil on their land, having a fancy brand new automobile and nice bowler hats an all, they are on the way up !
I see two derricks and what appears to be a 'long line' attached to the post behind.

Maybe it is just the perspective of the photograph that makes it appear that photo #4 is right hand drive. Looking under the hood it appears to me that the steering column is on the left hand side.

The T in picture 4 is left hand drive and the dog is riding shotgun on the right side. If you look closely over the cylinder head between the right fender and headlight you can see the steering gear coming threw the firewall.

The angle of the picture makes it look like the man driving the car is on the right, but he isn’t. What looks like a steering gear on the right side is the fender iron.

That is indeed a long line or central power set up. Somewhere on the property, they had set up an engine and crank apparatus that connected to cable or sucker rods laid along the ground which reached to several wells that required pumping. That system allowed one engine to pump several wells. When I was a kid, there were a number of these outfits still in operation. One may still be operating at Flat rock, Illinois. The Library of Congress
has a number of photos and diagrams of these things, which used to be very common in older oil fields in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Texas, and elsewhere. Some of them were very elaborate, and they were very interesting to watch and listen to as they operated.

Based on their leering expressions and body language, these guys think they are going to get lucky. The women’s expressions tell of a wholly different outcome…

The woman on the right looks like my grandmother. If it were... he would not be getting lucky. (He'd likely be getting a black eye)
