Another tool variant.

I showed my son the thread on pole shoe screw removers so he could keep a lookout for one at the Bendigo Swap meet. No need he said, I already have one. He scored it with an auto electrician's test bed when his old boss closed his shop.

Allan,

Nice score!

I know what the device is, but care to share what that re-brazed part with adjusting screw is for? Thanks...

Allan: Since you showed yours, here is one I use. The other one I sold was one in my spare pile.

George, It isn't brazed. It is a bronze casting, a bit rough in places. It is a 1/2" ratcheting handle, complete with the brand of the appliance stamped into the handle. With weight on the long handle, the ratchet handle turns the screwdriver bit, either in or out. From some hammer marks on top of the long handle, it looks like some screws needed a little encouragement to break loose.
I would like to get hold of a couple of 1/2" square drive socket type screwdriver bits if they are available over there. At present I have a 1/2" socket out of a Hammer drive impact set, but hex driver bits that fit it are rubbish.
