1926 COUPE BUMPERS - FRONT AND BACK BRACKET PICTURES

1926 COUPE OWNERS! I was gifted an old set of Front Bumper and back Bumperettes. Just not sure it is complete set. Does anyone have standalone pictures of the: 1) Brackets for front and rear bumpers 2) how/where these brackets attach on car undercarriage 3) How and where they attach on the actual bumpers. Would appreciate greatly any owners of 1926 coupes if they would share...specifically really interested in pictures that show the componentry of each. THX!!!!!!! Lisa

You can buy the hardware from the vendors and see what they look like but I made my own front plates from steel.
The modern carriage bolt holes are 1/2" but it looks like to me that originals might have been 9/16".
The nut is square.

It's difficult to take pictures of bumper brackets when installed on a car. It would maybe be easier to help you if you could post photos of what you have. Or, maybe someone has an uninstalled set they could photograph.

Here is the factory left front bracket on the '26-'27.
Mount clamps for the bumper bars
And the factory instructions for install of Ford accessory bumpers.
This the full face left rear bracket on a touring body, the bracket is Y shaped and the curved upper goes over the rear crossmember, the other Y goes to the rear face of the crossmember. Ford accessory bumper front and rear brackets fit all body styles.
But the Split Bumper design is different only on the bumper mount ends as they are split like a Y to allow the pair of bumper bars to be fitted.

Dan's 1st photo shows three bolt connections to the frame.
The first on on the left is 3/8' (which goes through the fender bracket) while the middle and right are 7/16".

Yes on the service bulletin. It covers the front. Not rear bumperettes. The front is easier to understand. I believe i have everything for that. The rear I think I am missing something. pulling the pics

Vernon, Jerry, Dan - Here are the only pics I have at the present. This is the day i received the items but before disassembly to go to sandblaster. the pieces have since been taken apart and cleaned up/blasted, prepped etc. I can get you pictures of the individual pieces in a week as they are in the club's garage. I did not bring them home.
What you see is as they were given to me. There are a few modifying items attached to these it appears to allow mounting to the previous vehicle - 1926 2 door - like extending bolts which have since been removed as i do not have a trunk or tow bar on my vehicle. The car The bumpers came from did. The bumpers had not been attached to the car they came from for 40-50 years so possible other parts became separated when they were removed. This is the reason for my post. I am trying to piece together what I am missing. I suspect it is only the mounting brackets for the rear bumperettes. I own a 1926 Dr. Coupe. The service manual only references the Front bumper bar i believe. Not the rear. I am thinking - from what I have parts wise for the front bumper - that the assembly is complete. The rear bumperttes is what I believe is the puzzle. If I had the pictures of the disassmbled parts - it would be a bit clearer I think. Will see if I can get them to you in next few days and have one of the guys take pics. I hope what I sent above helps.

Lisa,
Those are not Ford accessory 26-27 bumpers, they will not directly install onto a 26-27 chassis. The front bumper bars look like a Ford bumper, but the brackets are not. From a practical standpoint, you cant use them.

Lisa and Jim
The photos of your bumper set ups aren’t Ford, Jim’s are other accessory make but made to fit the T
Here are catalog shots of the reproduction brackets very true to the Ford ‘26-‘27. These show the designs of the brackets. Lisa, the Service bulletin does show and tell install for rear bumpers.
NOTE The picture of the rear regular bracket is wrong in this catalog as it shows a pair of front. Catalog error.
Correct pics of both types of rear bumper brackets

Humble - they were on a 1926 two door many years ago and then removed and left outdoors - hence condition. I have seen the pictures on the club member's car. Bumpers came from a club member.

Yes, the Service Bulletin pics are just that, so here is one enlarged for the Ford rear bracket.

These photos may help, they show the upper wide part of the rear bracket that goes up and on top of the crossmember, and held with one bolt.
This view is from underneath, as the head of the retaining bolt is placed up in the rear crossmember.

The other arm lays along the frame channel and held with a bolt.

Dan, what percentage were ford brand vs other equipment manufacturers? I have heard there were quite a few companies producing their versions. Are you saying that the ones i were given were Model A Modified? Hmmmmm

The brackets shown in your photos aren't the style used by Ford for the accessory bumpers. If they came off a Model T, then the owner then fitted them, you'll have to align and try fitting to the frame, just trial and error I guess.
Either the brackets are other mfg, or have been obtained from other makes of Ford accessory bumpers, such as Marquette, Stewart-Warner, Six-in-One or Badger. Your bumper bars are plain ended, so Ford used those for the Model T and the early '28 Model A, then the Ford Model A bumper bars have rolled ends and held with a finished long bolt at each end going through both bars. The brackets don't seem to be Model A.
Here are photos of the correct Ford Model T front and rear accessory bumpers for '26 and '27.

Dan,
Recently purchased a '26T coupe to replace my '26TT. The rear bumper brackets on my T has a single tubular cross bar --- do you know the manufacturer of this setup? I also have spare rear bumper brackets without a tubular cross bar --- it appears the tubular cross bar rear bumper arrangement is a better design.

I don't think that anyone has pointed out that there are two versions of the rear brackets for the 1926-27 Ford accessory bumpers. Longer ones for the coupe and roadster; shorter for the sedans and touring. The front brackets are the same for all body styles. See Jeff Humble's post in this thread:

Perhaps, if an accessory bracket and bars were made that way, but the only tubular crossbar I'm aware is the Model A bumper bracket crossbar.

Yep, the Ford list of parts (McCalley C-D info) shows
four rear assemblies offered. Runabout, Coupe, Touring/Tudor and Fordor.

Those resemble my non-Ford T rear bumpers.
What I don't like about them is that they merely butt up to the rear of the frame.
I imagine that the rear center bracket may connect to the tire carrier in some way.
